Steve Blake is slightly better (depending on the system honestly) than Rafer Alston...

I would still prefer the team to get front court help. Blake can help the team but not as much as people think he would. Brooks and Lowry are sufficient enough unless they plan to use Blake as a sg.

Like many other people, I think that Brooks and even possibly Lowry is better than Blake. I'd say let both of them get settled unless you use one to get a star. The Battier for Rudy F. and Joel P. trade does seem like it would have benefits for both teams, but Portland might be giving up a little too much, and I can't see them accepting or offering it. Can't see us using Blake.

hmmm I dont think I am. battier is like the best roleplayer in the entire league and I actually think hes a PERFECT fit in the Blazers team. They play at the lowest pace in the entire league and so thats fits the halfcourt system shane thrives in and he can utilise his great defensive abilities fully

bayless is going to get exactly 3 mpg with their roster set as it is now...websters coming back so they wont need any SG minutes and steve blake is probably going to take up ALL of the backup PG minutes...

I think even if other teams do come up with the better offer...we have the best FIT. I think FIT is more important than VALUE to the blazers

For us Shanes trade value is really high right now due to our awesome defense the last few years. now artest, yao, and rafer are gone (3 of our best defenders) battier's rep is only going to go down. oh yeah I hear we're playing nellie ball next season???

Um, considering Brooks and Lowry are both superior in talent and younger than blake, the answer is a resounding no.

agreed. I would try any of the following deals if I was morey:

    1) Battier for Fernandez
    2) Battier and Hayes for Outlaw and Pryzbilla
    3) Battier and Landry for Fernandez and Outlaw
    4) Battier for Outlaw and Bayless

Number 2 sounds like the best winner for both teams to me, especially the Rockets which is what I care about the most!

Just curious, do you feel that Fernandez is better than Outlaw? Or just that he is a better fit on the Rockets than Outlaw?

Anyone else feel free to give an opinion as well.

number 2 sounds lyk the worst out of those 4 actually...

morey won't want stop-gap solutions...so trading away our 2 BEST DEFENDERS on the team that was one of the best defending teams is not a good idea in my opinion.

pzybilla I reckon is too much of a shortterm shortsighted trade. whereas outlaw/rudy/bayless is one for the future and can help out yao and tmac when we're ready to contend

I think he's a nice player but he's 29. Also, I think he'll fetch more than the Rockets would be willing to pay him.

brian cook (THEY NEED A BACKUP PF!!! THIS IS THE PERFECT FIT FOR PORTLAND! THIS IS A PF THAT CAN SHOOT AS WELL AS ANYONE!)
brent barry (CHAMPIONSHIP EXPERIENCE!!! CAN PLAY SF MINUTES!!! BRINGS VETERAN LEADERSHIP!!!)

    for

I would disagree with you on that one. Especially if you talk about the future to help out Yao and Tmac....Przybilla would be a great backup to Yao to me. He is proven, Andersen is not proven yet in the NBA.

Therefore I wouldn't consider Przybilla and Outlaw stop-gap solutions. I think with Yao/Pryz, Scola/Landry, Ariza/Outlaw, Tmac/Wafer(?), AB/Lowry, that we would be a better team that would contend for a title, imho.

And whose minutes between Aaron and Lowry would you give up for Steve Blake to play?

I think Bayless and Pryzbilla is the deal we are looking for. Portland needs to realize that Oden will never reach his full potential as long as he is coming off the bench, behind Pryzbilla. The Blazers need a backup power forward and another wing defender. Maybe Landry and Battier get the job done. I would just hate to lose those guys. Battier is the new Bruce Bowen except he is not dirty, just fundamentally smart. Landry is probably our only low post threat who can dunk on someone. You know what, I would take outlaw as well from Portland. He has something you can work with. Fernandez has alot of energy on the offensive end, but when it comes to defense he is lazy like all euro players because he would rather gamble to get on offense in a hurry. Just my opinion. Rocket's will make the playoffs next season. They are not the Clipper's,they are the Knick's the Rockets are a team that actually play's team defense. That will lead to alot in the nba. Ever since the Rocket's got T mac and hired van gundy D has been their staple in the league. They have been a good defensive team that has never had an offense to go with it. This year we will see the offense pick up no ball stoppers on the team. I don't think T mac is a ball stopper just somebody who has had to play on an offense where we had to get the ball to Yao Ming. Yao has never been a go to guy in the fourth quarter. Fade away jumpers at 7 foot 6 is not a smart move to me. I am not here to bash Yao though because honestly he is the best offensive center in the league. Most dominant Tim duncan because he can face you up and still dominates the defensive glass and paint. Rocket's will be a number 7 or 8 seed and then watch out, because T mac is going to get us somewhere.remember that.

I think outlaw has the capability to be very good. as well as Fernandez if learns how to play D. I just like outlaw alot more because he can get in there and rebound and defend right now. Let's face undersized power forwards and non athletic bigs have killed the Rockets in the playoffs. Wing defense is going to break down. No shot blocking which the rockets have been almost last in the league every year has doomed us as well as rebounding sometimes.
outlaw will help with the rebounding and he may get a couple blocks here and there. Fernandez his d is suspect because everytime i saw it Von wafer was torching him and that is not saying much seeing that the series after that, the self proclaimed "machine" put the clamps on Wafer. Now that's not saying much.
