I think we should sign Warrik. Though he will be know as kim. Not hakim. We cannot have any name that is even half close to sounding like the great Hakeem.

A cheap ploy to sell some more tickets.

Great idea. Having another big to help the front court would be a welcome addition. The Rockets needs to get big and athletic. He fits those traits.

They got Hakim Warrick listed as a power forward. How is that possible.

Because they won't let you list "tweener" as a real position.

Well they could try to build a team properly, like the Blazers did and like the OKC Thunder are in the process of doing, rather than go for short term flashy non-solutions like Randolph and AI so they can sell more tickets.

I remember reading an article in Yahoo sports that said that the Grizzlies are more interested in turning a profit than winning, and that they traded for Randolph to first meet the minimum salary and second market the fact that they have a 20/10 player. If they sign AI they are clearly going after the same idea.

Problem is, who wants to play in Memphis? No one. That franchise will always be a joke. Sure, they draft good players(Gay,Mayo,Conley) and aquire other young talent(Gasol,Hadaddi) they're all going to bolt after their contracts are up. Though in all seriousness, if you were the GM, how would you make your pitch for players to come play for you, and want to play for, and stay? There isnt much motivation for a player to go play in Memphis.

Portland and OKC have the same problem. Who wanted to play in Portland when they sucked? But they've built their team well through the draft and I can't see Roy or Aldridge leaving, and Durant/Green/Westbrook/Harden looks like a decent young core with upside, and they don't look like they're leaving OKC either.

Memphis has some good looking young players but bringing in guys like Randolph and Iverson is not the way to build their team.

Well they could rebuild the squad with new picks and additions. Wait.... They ARE doing that for the past few seasons. Griz is not such a bad team after all. They are young, coming off a promising season. Fix their post with Thabeet and Randolph. And with AI joining them soon. On paper, their team actually looks better than Rox both short term and long term.

People will complain about almost anything these days. So what if the Grizzles are signing AI to sell more tickets?

I mean, isn't the NBA an ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS?

Aren't businesses supposed to try to figure out how to make a PROFIT?

If all the worst NBA teams stop focusing on how to sell tickets and make a profit, they will go out of business and there will be no one for the contenders to build up the win records on to make it to the playoffs.....errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Because it hurts their draft position that's why. They're a lottery team, and he'll only hurt their chances for the top pick. It's a stupid move. If they want to sell tickets, a number one pick would help them do that far more than Iverson, a player who will go down in history as being the most overrated superstar of his generation not named Tracy McGrady.

And how good is their draft position if they go out of business?

So you are saying that you think AI and Randolph will help them to win 20 or more extra games this year but it's a bad basketball move? Or will they still be a lottery team with a chance at getting the pick just like the other lottery teams?

Of course, I do realize that it's only your opinion about their team just like it is only your opinion about Tmac.

I think it's a mistake to assume AI will be a positive for the Grizzlies. Based on his Nuggets and Pistons experiences, AI is clearly a major chemistry killer. This move might be an example of subtraction by addition and it would hinder the development of Mayo, Conley, Gay, Arthur and Gasol. All 5 of those guys should be a little better this season, but catering to AI's ego will be a huge distraction. This will give Hasheem Thabeet an excuse for being a bust his rookie season.

Not to mention the Grizz have a weak coach (Lionel Hollins) who I like a lot but don't think is cut out to be a successful NBA head coach.

Need I mention Z-Bo? Him and AI on the same team? Only the Grizz would be stupid enough to put those two guys on a young team with developing talent. The franchise should be ripped out of the hands of Michael Heisley and also moved to another city.

All I know is that somebody is going to be pissed they aren't getting the ball.

Mayo, Gay, AI, Z-Bo......which one isn't a ballhog?

I think it's unfair to call Mayo and Gay ballhogs.

I surprised they let Warrick go -- I thought he would have quite a bit of value as his frame filled out. He just turned 27 and puts up 11 ppg with freakish athleticism -- not bad -- i'd take a flyer on him.

Don't think it's a smart move at all. Iverson's potential for drawing ticket sales and winning games are rather questionable at this stage of his career.

The positives, I believe, are outweighed by his potential for being disgruntled, causing teammates to become disgruntled because of loss of minutes, loss of shot opportunities while Iverson ball-hogs, etc.

One would assume the management have some sort of data to support their conclusion, but with this group in charge, I just don't know.
