    Anybody doing this?

Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler decided to match so you can trade your old rundown beater for 9000$ off a brand new car. Seems like a pretty good deal. Might have to take a look.

    $9000 off might be a good deal.....if it weren't a Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler.

I've got a clunker that I'm trying to decide what to do with right now.

I know the state is offering a 3000 dollar voucher if I trade it in.

    Hmmmm.

Anyone know when C-f-Cs ends? I thought I heard it was sometime in August.

It ends when the money alloted for the program runs out, so nobody really knows.

My clunker doesn't qualify by 2mpg. It gets less than the required mpg, but they go by the federal EPA amount. Would have been nice considering my truck is old and needs a ton of work.

I don't know about link, but I have seen the commercials. They are also offering 0% financing for 66 months I believe. I assume you can't have both though.

Can you buy an old clunker for 1K and then go trade it in for the 9K discount? Is there anything in this bill stopping someone from doing that?

no... you need to have paid insurance on it for at least one year. the car must have at least under 18 mpg to qualify. the new car must have over 28 combined mpg to qualify for the full 4500 (you get less if it's a new car under 28mpg).

    what's a GOOD dodge/chrysler/jeep that get's 28 mpg?

If you are trading for a suv you only need 5 mpg more
so if you trade a 17 mpg suv for a 22 mpg suv you get the whole 4500$

So that includes the jeep compass and patriot.. decent cars especially if you can get them for 10k brand new with this deal

I have an 04 JGC, and it's been rock solid. That said, I'm leery of any product made by a company that needs to cut so many costs.
