    He may not have the numbers on the offensive side of the ball but his D and his philanthropic work should land him in the HOF. If he was British we would be calling him Sir Deke. ;)

    I don't understand how a shoe company can retire a player's number. It would mean no other sponsored players can use that number. Will they require a player to change their number, before signing a sponsorship?

    Chance of using signing another player with the same number is low. And when that happens, they can still ask Mutombo to get the jersey out of retirement.
