Not too long ago a player named Jerome James had a great 2nd round series, then someone saw fit to give him the full MLE for max years. My point is McGrady is in a contract year and will go back to the same old lazy, unmotivated T-Mac after he signs his new deal. A leopard can't change his spots that's my point.
We cried over the Mavs series along time ago, they don't make "WHAT IF THE REFS DIDNT SCREW US" baseball caps. Go back to the year 2000-01 when they both were younger and less injury prone. Allen Iverson is a better leader, he led an offensively challenged Sixer team to the NBA Finals and he won the NBA MVP That year 2000-01. Tracy's team, Orlando, lost 3-1 to the Bucks with perenial winner Sam Cassell leading the point. In the FIRST ROUND. The 2nd round had Vince Carter's team (team Tracy left) losing to the Sixers by 1 bucket. Classic series. Allen Iverson was in the same conference as Tracy with an equally offensively challenged team (Aaron McKie, Deke, Matt Geiger..) but managed to win the division and conference. Of course, Tracy McGrady is physically superior to Allen Iverson, Iverson is barely 6ft tall. But the little dude was the MVP.
I know who Jerome James is and there is no comparison between Jerome James and Tracy McGrady. If Tracy McGrady was Jerome James then he would have been a bum after his 1st big contract.
That is so true he did flip flop on the Chase situation but please try not to curse his children are reading the boards. DD doesn't like it when we curse
I'm not sure I agree with you about winning a championship with just TMac until I see this new offense and if we have the capability of keeping our defensive intensity up, but otherwise, this is a pretty solid post. TMac's success will be based upon two things - is he anywhere near the player he was before the injury in terms of quickness and ball-handling and will he fit into and follow the new system Adelman puts in. This is all assuming he isn't traded by the time we find out, of course. His God-given talent is on the level of a Lebron, Kobe, etc. and I think he is a team player, but he finally got frustrated with repeated letdowns. He's made idiot decisions in terms of what he's said, but on the court, he's generally been beyond solid, yes, even with his apparent quitting on that one play. Anyway, like I said... good post, even if I don't agree with some of it.
The recent change on TMAC is due to PMS'ing because of the lost to the lakers. And since these so called "fans" that hated on TMAC have no one to look to. They are hoping he makes his comeback and makes them feel better. Ban all those HYPOCRITES!
if only the board had more sane and reasonable fans like you around, it'll generate better discussions.
its my fault, im the reason for all the tracy love all of a sudden. yea i wanted to trade him for rip hamilton, but who wouldnt? rip is perfect for ricks offense.. but id rather have Orlando t-mac than anyone in the nba right now Orlando tmac=closest thing to MJ
Iverson was a scoring machine. Billy King ( I think he was the G.M at the time ) did a great job of building the team around him. Everyone knew Iverson was the offense now all they needed was defense he did a good job. McGrady's situation was different. Grant Hill. Well yeah that says it all. Injuries happen. You can't see the future. Iverson is or was probably a better scorer than McGrady but McGrady is a better all around player.
Let's not have another throw the Orlando teammates under the bus thing again. It was McGrady who took the bus from Toronto to Orlando that year, while the Vince Carter bus booked a ticket to Philly for the 2nd round. Iverson's team making it to the Finals was an amazing job of coaching and play by Iverson. That Sixers team had no offensive threats besides Iverson. Which is somewhat similar to Orlando's situation. I rooted for the Bucks that series cause of old Rockets favorite Sam Cassell. I had no doubt the Bucks would win. Iverson was the better player, the MVP proved that, the team going to the finals proved that. McGrady is the better talent. Iverson can't throw the ball to himself off the backboard and dunk.
Winner. Oh now I get it. If T-Mac DOES comeback and play well, it's ONLY because he's looking for more money. Nice to know the T-Mac haters already have that excuse ready in their pocket. So what happens if McGrady doesn't want to leave Houston? What if he decides to re-sign with the Rockets at a hefty discount, for among other reasons, to help Morey and Les acquire another big fish in the 2010 season? I guess then the bashers would just say, "OH, he's just trying to recover his image. Look at that selfish attention whorish cancer, only worried about himself and his image!!!"
Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. The safe money is on him having an uninspired offseason and getting dealt for peanuts by the all-star break.
Come on now, T-Mac is know for not rehabbing or keeping in shape like he should. All of a sudden in a CONTRACT YEAR he gets a top trainer and we hear of how hard he's working. What is any sane person suppose to think?
