We'd have to give up Brooks and T-Mac and they would have to throw in KMart BJax and another contract..
Get it done, I'll take every piece of crap they can throw at us for TMac + Brooks + Landry/Fillers Martin is a franchise SG. We could use one of those. When you don't have a closer, you can't win games. Ray Allen/Piece, Kobe, Wade. All shooting guards basically (sf Pierce I know)
Basically... Martin to Houston, Battier to Portland, Fernandez & expirings to Sacramento. Fernandez allows Sacramento retain an exciting player at a ridiculously low price.
I would support this too. Man that guy is good. If anything turns me off it's that he is injury prone, and we don't have a good history of taking care of these kinds of players. Lowry, Martin, Ariza/Battier, Scolandry, Yao/Andersen/Hayes. Looks pretty solid to me!
The Maloofs gor Bernie Madoff-ed. Nocioni has expressed his unhappiness over being dealt to the Kings from day 1. I'd guess... McGrady + Brooks + Cook → Martin + Nocioni + Thomas/Udrih/Garcia
I brought it up in the beginning that The Kings would be willing to trade Kmart. They just got Evans who isn't a true PG. I'd give them a first rounder (T-mac) and brooks for Udrith and Kmart.
If they are trading Martin, I'd imagine something like TMac (a.k.a. huge expiring contract... maybe plus Cook or Barry if salary is needed) +1st round pick for Martin+(Beno and/or Nocioni) would make some sense for SAC. Don't know if the Rockets are high enough on Martin to eat one or both of these bad contracts. Martin is kind of an one dimensional scorer who is neither a good rebounder, passer (i.e. you won't find too many videos of Kevin Martin passing) or defender, but man is he great at that one dimension. The guy can score from the insider (getting to the FT line) and out (quick release 3 pters) and has an absolutely ridiculous scoring efficiency for the last few years. He's sort of like the perimeter player version of Amare, without, it seems, as much of an ego issue.
Great trade, I'd jump on that in half a sec. Maybe we can even sneak a second rounder out of Portland.
I don't think this trade will happen because it seems more like the Rockets are trying to free cap space for 2010
Exactly. Wouldn't mind getting Martin now and maybe having another MLE to make a run at a contributor. Also, we have to resign several key plays anyways (Scola). Martin can create his own shot, elite scorer when healthy, efficient, exactly what we need sans the playmaking capability.
Thats a very sensible guy to go after. He makes sense on every level to go with Ariza and Yao. I cant get too excited though. Things like these dont usually translate to reality often.
I think Martin is a perfect 2nd star paired with the right all star(a 3/4 guy like maybe Dirk if he didn't have Terry), but like what was mentioned before - he is a bit too one dimensional to be #1 guy and I think the way Yao can be denied the ball, Martin wouldn't be a good complement if he were the #2 guy with Houston. A #3 guy at Houston? Absolutely....but not a #2 with this team. We need a slasher/creator on this team to get the most out of the other role players(Ariza, Battier, etc) and Martin is not that guy and certainly isn't worth a max type contract.
Always felt the same way about Artest. Assumed the Maloof's would never give him to Adelman. We can just hope that the Rockets at least make him a target.
