While I somewhat agree with the attitude that Artest brought to the team (and he made me a HUGE fan of his this last year), I think that Artest playing on a losing team would mean he would revert back 100% to iso'ing all the time and taking horrible shots...like he started to do too often in the LA series. Will miss his defense, his work ethic and his great attitude, but I do think he's the wrong guy to have as your #1 option...but the perfect guy to have as your #2 or #3 option.
Is this so hard to understand? any team can win over any team in this league, however, if you want to win consistently, you need talent, tactics, management, etc. etc. and that's what Rockets are lacking of in the coming 82-games season. Again, what's the point of the another 1st round trip?
so i guess that its better to miss the playoff and just give up, than to at least try? thank god youre not RA or DM.
Players that come from the draft are [Potential].... There is no guarantee that they will make it in the NBA... Just look at the 1986 Draft or the 1989 draft...
How can you say that when we haven't even gone into training camp? So, according to your logic, if we don't get to the Finals it's a waste of a season? Well then we have had 4 worthwhile seasons in franchise history. The point is to have our undertalented team learn to overcome that by playing well as a group...executing RA's offense and keeping a committment to defense...then when we add players next year, the role players are that much better and that much more confidant. I mean, we lost in the second round this year, but I was just as proud of this group as I was the 94 and 95 teams. Though I was crushed that we lost, I still felt proud and great about the team. I would prefer that this year over winning 30 games and getting a potential top 5 pick
You and Spaceage808 make me sick. Losers! Quitters! But I forgive you, apparently your too young to know any better. Really, have you guys played any sports before? or sit in front of the couch and play video games all day? Have some pride, play to win, or just go home. This team isn't even finished coming together yet. Yes we'll be underdogs (I prefer it that way), but anything less than a playoff push would be a disappointment, kind of like you.
No I am not RA or DM, I am just a normal fan who want to see Rockets getting better. I am not saying "give up". But if I rank my expectations, they should be: developing young talent, high lottery pick, keeping the team healthy, playoff.
I never mentioned quitting, re-read all of my posts before you call me out. even read the other "tanking" thread. I'm probably older than you, that has nothing to do with anything. Just because your vision is much more near sighted than mine, doesnt make me less of a fan. Dont be so base man. ease off the drugs.
Well, I got the idea from some "experts", you know. Well, these 4 seasons can hardly be considered as "successful", right? In another word: "underachieved". I would agree with this. Also I would like to see that everyone use this season to get healthy. Really tired of these injuries.
1) What experts said that our strategy and management are not sound? Adelman and Morey are considered top tier basketball minds 2) Well, two of those seasons produced NBA titles, so I would say they were pretty damned successful
Only losers give up on a season before we've even played a game. What's the difference between the team we have now and the one that played LA to a 2-2 standstill? Minus Artest, plus Ariza. Plus more size with Anderson. And the prospect of a healthy McGrady.
each conference will have 7 lottery teams. regardless of which conference is stronger. the fact of who is in the lottery should be a total non-factor in terms of judging east versus west.
Play to win. I don't call than near sighted. I call Wanting to be a lotto team quitting. I been a Rockets fan along time and part of being a Rockets fan is Believing. and if a game is not going your way, would you just quit? That's not what I teach my kids and I would not except that out of this Rockets Organization. I don't believe Les, Morey or Adelman would except that either There seems to be a lot of so called "Rockets fans" around here that are ready to quit and the season hasn't even started. I'm very disappointed!
