seriously, why don't they get the same guy who did Z's surgery to do Yao's?? I read this at the end of a cleveland.com article in "notes" or something:
    http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2009/07/eying_christian_eyenga_summer.html

why doesn't Yao just go with Myerson??

Yao needs to not rush back to he'll end his career. We are not going to win a lot this year I'd rather have him take the whole year off and us get a good team together for next year.

Yao's got 6 months of time to rehab and play WOW. He'll kick everybody's butt in WOW and come back with an attitude of bullying everybody in NBA also.

If He thinks He can then everyone should root for Him. Sometimes having the right attitude speeds up the healing process of an individual. Lets wish Him the best and hope for a miracle comeback.

why are they not announcing when he will have the surgery!!!...did he already have it...why are they being so secretive about his injury this time... ...i want some information...
it always seems that after they start the surgery they get a better idea as to how serious the damage is and they change the prognosis good or bad...
I hope they release a statement and clanton talks to the media after the surgery...
i think Yao will do an interview with some chinese media a few weeks after the surgery that will give us more insight....

Maybe this could be it's own post... I'm very curious about how this would go down:

Assume Yao is ready to play basketball early this summer after the holdout for the entire 2009-2010 year. Most people are have very strong opinions about Yao's participation in international basketball.

Do you revaluate your position, considering he will be out of condition and need to get into game-shape and Chinese competition may accelerate this?

now that the surgery is done, i'm counting down the 6 months ....i think anything is possible....most importantly he gets fully healthy..but if he makes a quick recovery and is cleared then why not come back at the end of next season...

maybe the rockets still have hope he will come back this year...I know Yao has not given up...he may push himself to comeback but i'm sure the rockets won't let him...maybe deep down, morey believes there is a chance too.....the rockets dont want to say anything yet because of the injury exception they got from the league and also not to add any extra pressure on Yao....wishful thinking maybe...but I can Hope can't I
i just think they have not given a definite asnwer yet on him being out....
I would not be surprised if he tries to come back late season if we are a playoff team...
I would be in favor only if he is 100% healthy...

No need for Yao to try to even come back this season. Just relax this whole entire season. I highly doubt he make any difference if he comes back. Plus when he comes back, he would most likely be a role player and no longer be our focal point on offense.

if Illguaskas can come back in 10 months, then yao can do it in 7 months or 8 months....with advances made over the last 8 years plus Yao works extremely hard....there is a chance

True. If healthy enough and the team is in contention of a playoff spot then why waste a year. He should at least try to make a run for it. He would have been well rested and with doctor's permission. If the team has no chance in making the playoff by March then He should rest for the following season.

Yao should come back Oct 2010. He never had a day off in his life, he should experience something like that.

    Yao checks out of hospital
    July 27th, 2009
    by John
According to published reports that Raymond read in the Chinese press, Yao checked out of Houston’s Memorial Hermann Hospital on Saturday, four days after his surgery.

Yao’s parents will be taking care of him at home. His wife Ye Li is making arrangements to return to Houston from Shanghai as soon as possible.

Yao will return to the hospital in a few days time to remove the stitches, and his foot will be placed in a plastic cast for 3 months. He’ll use crutches for 6 to 8 weeks to get around.

Yao can resume upper body training during the 3 month span and can start his rehabilitation training after the cast is removed.
