Oh I agree it isn't bad, all I'm saying is if it's only $100 more, he should go with it. It is worth the bump in my opinion. I don't know if you've noticed this, but with my 3g if I'm doing too much, it randomly crashes. My friends with the 3gs say that doesn't happen. Plus, all the reviews I've read say it's a leap beyond the 3g. Personally, I think it's apple's way to apologize for making everything but a phone, so they decided "why the heck not, let's add some standard features other phones have". It's a necessary overhaul with MMS support, a better camera, voice control and video. True, the 3g can do most of that, but not all!!

I'll say it before and I'll say it again, the iPhone is great with everything except when you need it to be a phone. Apple is slowly fixing that.

    at&t blows.

i had sprint for 8 years..and i switched to get the iphone last month.

the iphone is great..but the service is horrible at best.

and don't even get started on the outrageous monthly costs. seriously 8.99 for 7pm mins?

T-Mobile and an unlocked iPhone is a winning combination.

Still better than Sprint.. was a Sprint customer for 6 years before switching to AT&T last July... I don't get billed for unknown charges that I don't know about anymore.. Sprint used to bill the hell out of me for stuff I didn't even know.. those bastards are jippers... everyone I knew that had Sprint got jipped with charges that were total BS.... as far as the service goes... never had a problem with dropped calls with AT&T.. signal is far better than Sprints... at least in Houston area it is.

The difference between the 3G and the 3GS is actually pretty striking.

The little features (video, improved camera, etc.) are nice, but once you've really compared the 3G and 3GS in day to day use, the big bumps in processing speed are very very noticeable.

Especially when you get into the apps.

I'm still holding out with my 3G. Waiting till my contract is up to see what they have next summer. But after playing with a 3GS for a while, it's really quite a big jump.

Downgrades, as in what you lose out on?

Pretty much losing a subsidized price on the phone because you're not signing a contract with AT&T, however you can always sell off the free phone you get when you sign with T-Mobile to help pay for the phone. Also, T-Mobile plans are cheaper than AT&T so you will save money there.

But if you really want 3G data service, AT&T is the only way to go, as you will not be able to get 3G speed for an iPhone with T-Mobile. But I'm content with my 2G speeds for $6 a month. :)

 i dont know about all that. and u have to remember theres like 50 million customers for these companies. not everyone is gonna be happy. and most unhappy people tend to blow the situation out of proportion and try to say and "everyone i knew"...haha

I like that you do the "roll eyes" thing at his comments about Sprint and then post a chart showing that Sprint really is thought to be the bottom of the barrel in terms of Customer Satisfaction in our region.

    Crafty.

I've been with Sprint for 8 years also, and my problems with them have almost always come when they offer me something and then fail to actually follow through.

For instance. I got a new phone a couple of years ago. When I was a activating the phone, the lady told me that since I was such a good customer, I would get an additional $50 off my next bill. It took six months and about 15 calls to Sprint to actually get that $50 credit. But I hadn't gotten the phone expecting that $50, so if they had never offered it to me, I never would've had to had the bad experience.

Or....A few months ago, they call and suggest I switch to a different plan that would be slightly cheaper AND they make a big point of telling me the new plan would have unlimited picture mail. I'd never used picture mail, didn't care if I had it, but I went ahead and switched. And then I used the picture mail and got hit with data charges. It seems that "unlimited picture mail" just meant you could send all you wanted but you would be charged for the data. Took at least three calls over the course of a month to get those charges reversed.

Nearly three years ago, my younger son (who was on my plan) had broken his phone and needed a new one. So we go to the Sprint store to get him a new one. He didn't qualify for any discounts because he hadn't even had the broken phone for a year, so the Sprint guy tells us we can add another line, switch my son's number to it and get a free phone and it won't cost any extra (and I'd have an extra line just sitting there with no phone on it for another 16 months or so, but since it wouldn't cost any extra, it wouldn't matter). So, we go ahead and do that.

Well, we got the new line and free phone, but he also extended the contract on the previous line (adding an additional two years) and Sprint added a $9.99 per month charge on the additional line (which is not so much free). I called Sprint, and they wouldn't cancel the unused line without a huge fee or unextend the extra two years he added to the one line, but they would give me a $9.99 credit every month to offset the extra charge.

Unfortunately, I had to call them at least three times each month for over a year to get them to actually give me that credit. A couple of months ago, I finally found someone who figured out how to get the credit to show up every month.

So, if they had never offered me those things, I wouldn't have had as much problem with them. And, to their credit, they did eventually fix everything, but it always took a lot of my time to get it done.
