To put it in simple terms, we can either re-sign Scola next Summer or sign a big name free agent, but we can't do both. Because of this, I'm almost certain that Scola will be traded at the deadline.
Why wold we need a big vet unless we have an elephant or Eddy Curry on the team? Otherwise, a human doctor to replace Tom Clanton wouls suffice.
She would probably have a ESPN highlight for a dunk. And it might look better than lisa leslie hitting the front of the rim.
Elson would be ok for the vet min. Send Taylor to Europe, Von is not likely to come back. Cut White, don't see him making the team. Keep Budinger.
Why would you want to trade Scola? He's not that old. He's a fine fit for a rebuilding team. You're not going to get star talent for him. You're not going to shed some humongous salary. It's not like he's a bad fit for a run-and-gun offense. He still has enough good years ahead of him to be a key part of a championship team when the young guys mature. You already know what you're getting with him, and it's damn good. He has steadily improved the longer he has been with the Rockets. Why trade him for someone a little younger who is unproven? Plus he offers leadership, work ethic and veteran savvy, all of which a young team needs. The only real justification I could see for actively looking to trade Scola is because his contract will be up soon. Otherwise, why give up such a key piece of the puzzle for an unknown commodity? McGrady's contract, maybe Landry, maybe Battier are better trade fodder. The beauty of Scola is: Contending team? Nice fit. Rebuilding team? Also a nice fit.
The center position is still too thin. The team's front court does not strike any fear to any team n the league. Its best to try to shore up this position ( center ) to a respectable level that could complement Scola and Landry upfront and the shooters like Ariza and the wonder rookie Chase.
Wold? Wouls? Would you be a moron if you couldn't spell it? Yes, I think so. You're also displaying a disturbing fascination with size in this post... perhaps to mask your own personal inadequacies?
I like the aggressiveness of Golden State's Rony Turiaf (ex Laker) who is relentless and has a real viscious nature and plays above 6-10. Package McGrady NOW for Turiaf at backup 5, Corey Maggette, and Stephen Jackson and the Rockets are in the top 5 in the west this season IMO
I love Stephen Jackson and Turiaf with the Rockets and ok with Maggette but that would put us in cap hell for years and kiss Scola goodbye as well.
