You know the headlines I mean: the ones where the journalist makes some stupid pun turning on the name of a particular player. I see some potential in a number of this year's crop. We've already seen plenty of 'Yao-za.' What will they write when Butler has a lot of assists or Gooden has a good game or Hilario does something funny?

    Stupid puns I can do.
    Stupid is as stupid does.

    After draft day
    The Cavs that Say NENE

After a triple double by Nene
Hilario doesn't send Knicks home laughing.

After an early boot from playoffs
Knicks cry a Rio, a Hilario.

Drew Gooden enough for the Cavs.

    Oh wait,
you said which name will inspire the stupidest headlines, not post your stupidest puns.
    Never mind.
    I'll behave from here.

I'm being really anal here, but journalists don't make up headlines. Their editor usually does it.

I will enjoy that story. They will draw parallels between the two great towers, Yao and Olajawon. It will also talk about how the #2 picks busted between two future hall of famers.

Taking the Gooden with the bad

    All those opposed? NENE!

Benson BREAKS OUT into first round

    Knicks venture into Woods

No Rush: Pacers will allow rookie to develop

That's Amare! Magic in love with high school forward

Boozer fails sobriety test -- surprises no one

Juan more try: Dixon in third different camp after two weeks

Tito no second fiddle -- Maddox surpasses Barkley for backup point guard job

    That's enough for now :)

And in the category of "best non-news thred", the 2002 award goes to ...JuanValdez for "which names will inspire.."

Seriously, no stupid trade proposals, nobody called anybody names, nothing about Cato, and we learned something about journalism. What more can you ask for from a post? Truley a feel good post the whole family can enjoy. If you read just one post this summer...
