I, for one, would like to see him as an assistant coach teaching young players offensive moves, basketball IQs, etc. Same way as how I would like Hakeem to come in as an assistant coach.

Then again, teams like Wolves or Grizzlies may be desperate enough to knock on his door for a head coaching job.

If Patrick Ewing can get an assistant coaching position working for the Van Gundy's who preach effort and defense then anything is possible.

the thing about Ewing is that I think he's naturally a low IQ person, but he at least thinks about things and tries...Drexler seems like his mind is blank space..no conscience about anything.

the guy drinks his own kool aid, which is fine on some level. he is a hofer and he did bring this town a second championship, that being said like a lot of athletes he thinks it translates to other endeavours. I can't believe anyone would give him a shot after the UofH fiasco.

Reid Gettys had a successful law career and he put that on hold to coach with him. He was pretty upset afterwards.

even now i still can't get over the fact that he doesn't have to do road games on a job he was given with no experience, and really has only improved slightly on. the guy just has clout, good for him i guess

I think he would be a good fit for the Utah Jazz or Dallas Mavericks.

Clyde couldn't even win in a weak conference USA let alone against the lakers, spurs and blazers

C-USA wasn't as weak at that time. They got 4 teams into the tourney in both years Clyde coached (same number as PAC10, 2 more than the ACC). Cincinnati was great back then and Louisville was pretty good too. The conference also had DePaul and Marquette at the time that were good. Even St. Louis and UAB made the tourney.

Let's hope his broadcasting abilities aren't indicative of his coaching abilities.

He was probably just joking. Or talking to talk. He makes strange comments on a regular basis, maybe trying to be funny. He even put a little heat to those Denver rumors a while back AND rumors of him coming out of retirement to play. I don't think any of it was serious.

drexler should stick to commentating. He doesn't even travel on the road games with fsn. I guess he's got it like that.

If it is with the Rockets then it is a big NO from me. Ok great player blah blah blah, I appreciate it but that's over. To say it was disappointing you opened up a can of quit on UH is an understatement. You won't do road games unless they are playoff games, guess I should think you for that, I would rather listen to Bull anyway. What would make anyone think you would put in the work? This whole thing actually kind of irritates me

I always felt that drexler was critical of the rockets play mainly because he didn't like the rockets leaders. In the past, he has had that arrogance of a winning team that won "state" and looks at teams coming up after his as if they could never be as good as his "ole skool team".

He did start giving yao ming his props later in the season however.

Drexler would be a good college college kinda of like isiah thomas

I like Clyde as a player and tolerate him as an announcer because I love my rockets but as a coach? No thanks. I think I'd rather have Calvin.
