Um, that's great (seriously), but I don't think that's what tinman means when he says they don't make SciFi TV like they use (sic) to. Did you watch how freaking weird (and piss poor) that clip is? To think I grew up watching shows like that all the time explains way more than I'd like it to.
C'mon, the clip was about undressing Erin Grey. The context kinda didn't really matter. It could've been a really weird episode of "Silver Spoons" and we wouldn't have cared. We all watched "Buck Rogers" for two reasons: Wilma Deering and Princess Ardala
I swear to God, without opening this thread and seeing that title, that is the exact scene of the exact episode I thought of. LOL! Classic scene. I was going to say all we need now is Princess Ardala.... but you took care of that. Just for kicks, Tiger Man would've been a funny throw-in... Gil Gerard put on some serious weight in recent years... I think he's over 300 pounds... yikes.
They made the change the same day their new show "warehouse 13" came on. I have never seen SciFi market a show like they did that one, guess they had it planned trying to get the most viewers possible to show off their new logo and stuff.
I would love to see some nice shots of the cast from Cleopatra 2525 like the one from Firefly.. it even shares a cast member
This is a pic I have on my myspace profile My take on that "They don't make SciFi TV like they use to": Alot of the older stuff is cringeworthy now. All the old superhero series like Wonder Woman and Hulk are just dated. Current programming certainly is impressively polished. X Files is plenty nice. A 2 hour Firefly episode would be a huge movie box office draw if released in the Buck Rogers era. Older programming though, not just sci-fi, just had more sense of heart and element of enjoyment I think. Sign of the times, limitations in production and effects, so what. The hokieness of shows like V The Final Battle, original Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, that in itself was the entertainment value. Can you even make a Firely lunch kit now?
Can any of them have Mel Blanc, freaking the real BUGS BUNNY doing voice work for them? Again If you can't put it on a lunch kit, it aint real sci-fi
