ah yes, thank you pmac... in my haste I often times type too fast to capture every word I am thinking.

Anyway, this is a silly argument.

Chris Paul is arguably the best PG of the past decade.

He may be a good guy, but I've seen him whine to the refs repeatedly and blatantly flop more than a few times.

That is the one thing that keeps me from being a huge fan of his, because other than that he's simply incredible.

Are you mad? I think so...because you had to REACH big time to try and insult me. And you went to my SIGNATURE to do it. You failed miserably, and I hope you can do better in the future.

I'm done playing with you dude. If I keep up, it might be a type-by shooting...might get wounded by the shift key...

Now...moe had me e-fighting and I forgot to mention the on and off court thing...he's a good dude, just on the court, I hate the flopping he does...

Well I was only talking about the financial aspect. The only reason the Hornets would ever deal Paul is for financial reasons anyways.

It would be dumb for the Hornets to trade the guy who fills thier stands unless they get some "name" talent in return.

Probably not, but there were reports about it earlier in the summer but you never know.

Here's my trade--basically gutting the team for Paul and almost all of their bad contracts. It's the only kind of deal I could see them considering. I'd do it and hope to fill in the other pieces later.

    Houston gets--Paul, Chandler, Stojakovic, Posey
NO gets--T-mac, Brooks, Scola, Landry, Cook, Barry, White

The problem is that he's not filling the stands, they have terrible attendence and are in major trouble. They're starting to panic now that Phoenix refused to trade Wallace for Chandler, the panic is going to get worse once they see their ticket renewal numbers and luxury tax numbers.

Trading Paul is a last resort for them though, everyone else on the team will be made available before they move Paul.

Last poster just made me realize...whoever (if it happens) trades for Mr. Paul, will no doubt have to take another bad contract along with him.

I get what your saying but the Hornets Brass is going to realize that as bad as thier numbers are now ....trade away Paul there going to get worse....unless you get a guy like Roy,C Anthony, something like that in return.

If they package Paul with all their bad contracts and get a bunch of buyouts back. They will improve their finanacial situation even if they get horrible attendance. They'll go from losing money to making a little or breaking even, see the Memphis Grizzlies.

Thats going to kill the team in the community though and you would have to think that the hornets would be at least leary of alienating thier fanbase to such a degree.

This was a point of discussion previously in the Bill Simmons monster thread. The Hornets are only going to unload Paul if other teams are willing to take on Posey, Chandler, and Peja as well (ie the reasons they are over the threshold). West's contract actually goes down in price with each season and his production make him a decent bang for the buck. To be under the threshold they need to unload 10 million. Adding Posey, Chandler and Peja to Paul's contract means that the Hornets are looking to unload about 45 million in contracts. They would need to at least trade 40 million to unload 10 million. To be within 25% of the amount, the Blazers would have to come up with with about 35.5 million. In other words, they would have to trade their entire roster minus Roy. They literally wouldn't even have a bench at that point. Realistically speaking, how is Portland a better partner?
