    With all these teams trying to move up to get Jay Williams, I was wondering how does he stack up against Francis, Baron Davis, Marbury, Kidd and Payton, etc? What do ya'll think?

    who cares? he is a rookie... He may be another Christian Laettner type Dukie as far as his lack of NBA production, or he may be a Grant Hill type star... Ask this question in 5 years!!!

    Think Laetner. Decent but nothing special IMO

    Didn't any of you guys see the college guys take on team USA 2 years ago? A J-Will who was only 19 or 18 held is own against Kidd and Payton, the best pg in the game. Now this kid is older and better. He's going to be ROY and a top 5 pg in his first year, no question.

    I personally think Jay is gonna be superb,..heck, I'd take him with the first pick, but we have Steve...size matters and the team needs that right now.

    Kidd & Payton felt sorry for Jay Williams and took it easy on him. Like they had anything to prove against college players, and the little motivation they did have to even show up for the exhibition was to get a little workout in a scrimmage type atmosphere.

    PS: You play down to your competition sometimes!

    PSS: This thread needs to self-destruct. Wait, I am helping it survive by posting :( I am done for good talking about JW!

    NBA guys never go easy on college or highschool players. Maybe if J-will was a little kid or a make a wish kid. NBA players don't let anybody show them up.

    Jay's going to be a very, very good pro in my opinion. He is ten times the athlete Mateen Cleaves of Laettner ever were. Those comparisons are way off base -- didn't you see the test results in Chicago? JWill was a stud among studs.

    On the court he was the best player in college basketball two years in a row. He was simply unstoppable most of the time. Yeah, I know, he missed some clutch free throws, but c'mon! Mateen Cleaves? Jay's as close as a sure thing as there is in this draft.

    But I still prefer Yao. ;)

    Jason=the man

    Anyone that compares him to Mateen Cleaves or Christian Laettner has some problems.

    Jay should be a star in a couple of years, possibly a superstar.

    IMHO, he's a Francis clone. Doesn't have quite the bounce, but may actually be a little quicker.

    On an aside, that's why I'm disappointed in Cat & Steve (supposedly) not wanting Jay (OK, Cat is the one that's probably against selecting Jay, gotta protect that starting spot you know).

    A backcourt of Francis-like Gs is very tempting, could be explosive.
