I am proud to say I saw him play in his prime: The Mighty Mite, Calvin Murphy Pound for pound, he was also one of the strongest and toughest guys on the court
For players who actually spent significant time on the court (that excludes Novak) Calvin Murphy Rudy T Jon Barry other players were great shooters, but they had their prime elsewhere Purvis Short Eddie Johnson and after he left the Rockets for the Celts.....Connor Henry ...was that his name.
What happened to Jim Jackson???? he was a good shooter. I wonder why he isn't playing anymore. He should be about 34 or 35. What about players who were on the Rockets but got traded?? Kenny Smith was a good shooter you could add him. Lol Vernon Maxwell was a good shooter also
Over three pages and no mention of Dream? You guys think spinning away from a double team and hitting that beautiful baseline J, sometimes at an almost impossible angle, isn't worthy of consideration? Just goes to my thinking that most people don't understand post play. Every wing player mentioned here has the basket in his sights most of the time. Dream didn't see the goal until he was in the act of shooting and often not until just before he released the shot with a hand in his face. That's pure. Of the ones already mentioned, Murphy.
All these replies and no.. DAVE JAMERSON ??? Along with him, Novak, Rice, Tracy Murray are all good choices
(Lloyd) World B. Free... Dang that dude could flat out shoot in his prime..... November 12, 1987, World B. scored 38 points against the Sacramento Kings at Arco Arena and brought the Rockets back to win the game... Stroker, thanks for the memories..
Do I sense a burgeoning man-crush? Let's just hope DD doesn't approach Buddinger and ask to paint him. <object width="512" height="296"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/uzF7mT7ua-fX2qFhpABfig/0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/uzF7mT7ua-fX2qFhpABfig/0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" width="512" height="296"></embed></object>
1. Murphy 2. Dream 3. Rudy T. 4. Kenny S. None of those were streak shooters- if you look at streak shooters when they were hot- 1. TMac- unstoppable flat looking shot when hot 2. Madmax- could throw it up from anywhere 3. Franchise- another flat looking shot that when hot couldn't be stopped 4. Sleepy Floyd- crazy shooter when smokin' hot
+1. He was amazing. career 47% from the 2 guard position, and he was usually the goto guy on his teams (primarily with the GSW.) Eddie Johnson also warrants mention. As much as I loved Rudy the player, and he had a great shot, I don't think he's quite in the unconscious territory as these other two guys.
I thought about posting Conner's name last night sort of jokingly, but didn't. He was supposed to be a good shooter, but he actually uh... sucked. He was terrible. lol.
Another "was supposed to be a good shooter" the Rockets drafted... but sucked. If we're putting up "shoulda beens", the greatest shooter of them all was probably Steve Harris.
Purvis Short's, Eddie Johnson's, and Mike Woodson's best years were before they got to Houston. They were pretty much average to below average players when they got here if I recall. Woodson in his prime was a hell of a shooter who used to tear the Rockets up.
i know a lot of us have bad memories of luther head, but i actually LOVED the guy. during the 06-07 season, luther was great during the reg. season and was mad clutch. for some unknown reasons, he became a ghost in the playoffs. i truly thought he was becoming our next great role player shooting the ball he was a pretty good 3pt shooter if you take out the playoffs and jamerson and henry? puh-lease. those were busts. and i'm surprised no one has brought up yao. he's one of the best shooting big men from the C position we've seen, as indicated by his ft%. he came into this league with decent range (out to 15-17ft) and still can knock them down from time to time. and his stroke is a beauty to watch. and i'm also surprised no one has brought up JON BARRY. dude was ridiculous in his 04-05 season. dude would just jack up 3s in transition or tough 2 pt shots and they would go in. he shot 45% from 3s that year.
i know. but man, their stroke was ugh, beautiful. at least eddie had a great moment with us. look at that effortless release. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/luBrkc2m9cI&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/luBrkc2m9cI&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
