Lol. I've never seen the guy like this. I think everyone should just back out of the thread slowly for our own safety.
With the departure of Artest and possibly Von Wafer it probably does re-ignite optimism of a McGrady return but I don't think it's going to happen. Judging by the recent pictures he is overweight. I'm not saying he isn't rehabbing because I have no idea what his rehab regime looks like but there is no doubt he is overweight and it isn't just a few lbs. The point is that he is nowhere near basketball shape so don't expect him to contribute early in the season for sure (and probably any time before the All Star break). The other issue with McGrady is how he handled things last season. There are some really dumb general managers in the NBA but Morey isn't one of them. Reasonable, intelligent people are not going to buy into McGrady suddenly doing a 180 and becoming the hard-working, mature player he has never been. He burned his bridge and no matter what the Rockets tell the media about his health, his attitude or his place with the Rockets you can be sure he isn't in the plan for next season and beyond. I think the Rockets plan is a very simple one. Add talent and athleticism and turn this team into an up tempo, fast breaking machine without losing the defensive chops and toughness that the team is known for. That was the plan before Yao went down and I don't think his injury changes that except for adding more urgency to the need for a 7 footer or two.
we need to resign von waffer...or it wont work like it did...he brings almost an elite quickness...that wont be matched by white or taylor or ariza..
i hope the op is correct...this is what i'm hoping for...the longer the rockets wait to do the surgery on yao, migh make it seem possible that yao might be reconderding the surgery...
T-Mac is injury prone. But... YOU try to do your job with a bad back and a bad knee night in and night out, and do your job at the caliber T-Mac has performed doing HIS job with an injury prone body. Sure I hate Yao's and T-Mac's brittleness. But on the flip side, the dudes came back, from every major injury (so far). I'm sure it takes a tiny more character than a "giant baby" to come back from multiple injuries. Just my 2 cents
Seems like we say this every year 'if healthy' and that is the only way it is going to happen and realistically I don't believe everything will fall in our favor
YES I DO AGREE WITH U . T-MAC WILL START THIS YEAR AND EVERYONE WILL LOVE HIM PLAYING BECAUSE HE IS MY BOY ILL SAY," HE WILL BE THE MAIN FEATURED WEAPON EVEN IF YAO DOES COME BACK AND TO ADD WILL SUCCEED" ITS CLUTCH CITY BOY, AND WE HAVE TO BE RED-MAN MEAN TRYING TO FINSH NEXT THIS YEAR TO SPOIL ALL OTHER DREAMS AND PROCEED TO BECOME ELITE!
What a stupid thread. Madmax totally owned the OP on this one. No way do the Rockets create negativity and jeapordise ticket sales. It's just bad business!
Okay, lets get the idiots and child posters out of the way first: No one got owned ignorant. He misunderstood my point and we cleared it up, unlike your inability to do so. If you can't read anything other than a title, then maybe you shouldn't post for a while. I went to the UofH for your information. And it's an opinion and speculation thread...just like most threads in here...duh. I really don't get why some people can't read and understand simple concepts but yet find a way to type and put posts on here. It's absolutely amazing honestly.
and the reply from another poster: I wanted to point this out again since some don't seem to be able to grasp the concept that I was putting forward. (reading/comprehension skills?) I don't think that Morey and the Rockets are trying to build a three year or more plan for the Yao/Tracy era, but rather keeping the door open for a surprise run at a title this coming NBA season, "IF" they could get both of them healthy and playing say by late March of the upcoming season. It is always hard to give up on a vision that you had when it hasn't worked out. So while I think the Rockets are planning on the Yao/Tracy era ending very soon, they are willing to hold out just a tad bit to see if something can still work out by the end of this year if things are progressing in the right direction.
You have a very well thought out post and everything makes sense. It's just that the other side of that flipped coin is still a possibility. If Tmac can return earlier and get into form while adjusting to the offense, and then Yao comes back somehow by the end of March, with the team that Morey is assembling, the team would be a contender if they are in the playoffs, not just warm up material for other contenders. That's my main point. Of course those are some BIG "IFs"!
Exactly! That's why the post is about "pulling a fast one" on the other teams in the league that are expecting the Rockets to be only in rebuilding mode and not contend next year. The thread is NOT about "pulling a fast one" on the league office by getting the disabled player exception. errrrrrrrrrrrr
Very well said sir. I agree with you 100%. Those fans that want the Rockets to tank the season to shoot for a high lottery pick remind me of the same lousy fans that wanted us to intentionally lose the Dallas game at the end of last season. If we would have won that game, we would have probably progressed to the WCF, meaning more games for the fans and more money for the Rockets organization.
Some very good points in your post that I definitely agree with. That's why I titled the post "maybe" not "may be", to indicate that maybe the Rockets will pull a surprise act by the end of the season and contend with that big "IF" happening....HEALTH.
