Purvis short was a sight to behold when it came to shooting even for the Rockets. He had the highest arch I've ever seen in basketball. It seemed the ball never touched the net at times. World B. Free was another renowned shooter who played for the Rockets for a bit just before he retired. His 37 pt. game off the bench was nice, but he didn't play much.
The Rockets team with Calvin, Rick & Mike Newlin was a pure shooting exhibition waiting to happen. How did they loose a game? Rudy was there also, but I consider him a great not pure shooter.
Calvin or Rudy T. Its not even close. There were better 3 pt specialist since there wasn't a 3 pt line for most of these guy's careers but Calvin and Rudy were automatic from anywhere on the court if left open.
Wasn't Eddie Jordan on the rockets for a minute.....I can't remember but if he was he has my vote for best pure shooter......Anyhow it was eddie something.
Mario Elie. Although He did not start his career as a shooter but his stay with the Rockets were good enough for him to be considered a shooter. Kiss of death!
I haven't seen CMurphy or Tomjanovich since I'm too young for them but in my memory the pure, schoolbook jumpshot had Steve Novak. Kenny Smith and Robert Horry were my fav though.
Calvin Murphy for sure but Kenny Smith and Sam Cassell should also get a mention. but i think Steve Novak, though not an outstanding player, should always be remembered as the person who was a major contributor for the 22 Win streak for his dagger 3 against Sac. did he even play this season? oh and Eddie J for that 3 against the Jazz.....that was an awesome buzzer beater from deep but i think we still lost that series, no?
