Okay everybody in this room that has hate for McGrady and anybody that is a true Rocket supporter that has alot of hate for McGrady in my Australian eyes is a typical bandwagon fan. The things Tracy has done for the rockets (when healthy) is more then anyone in the modern NBA could achieve for us at this point in time. Yeah he's lost heart and yes he may be a quitter, but one thing you can't judge McGrady on is his character. Anyone here put yourself in McGradys shoes... Not one of you can tell me that year after year, criticism after criticism, injury after injury you would get back up and keep trying. When McGrady came in he gave Rockets fan hope, the reception he got was amazing, now that there is doubt in your mind you all want to jump ships and hate on him. Hell look at it this way, he could be traded for 'our saviour' or his 22 MIL we owe him could sign LeBron? Wade? Bosh? Either way people who really dislike McGrady because he is injury prone makes no sense to me. I start to wonder about your own character. I know i'm going to recieve alot of hate from all the members who dislike Mcgrady but who cares when one of you people actually make it in the NBA then your criticism will be taken into consideration.
Well, first of all I'm a Rockets fan! But, I have to admit I like T-Mac's style of playing a lot and I know he didn't pulled us out of the first round (Artest did by the way) ... but I still appreciate the guy a lot. When healthy (cliché, I know) he is a great player and for me he will stay a great player with or without a Rockets jersey ... I wanted to create a new thread for this vid, but I can post it here also ... enjoy SG productions! It is not my vid, but I like it a lot and it is uploaded 2 days ago on YouTube. So, I sign this "appreciation thread" with proud! <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XJzj8AKsCko&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XJzj8AKsCko&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

One time Tmac. If he can come back this year and be a difference maker, I think there will be alot of people eating their words. There are few things that are beyond a player's control that shouldn't be held against him. Injury is the main one. Yeh, his play was subpar last year, but only because he was trying to play on one leg. Why? Because the fans and the media were doubting his heart and commitment. It ended up biting him in the a$$ , and hopfully he learned his lesson. Don't step on the floor unless you're healthy and ready to go full throttle. If he could return midseason in good shape and with both legs underneath him, I think he could make a big difference. If it doesn't happen, then he walks at the end of the year and we have cap space to sign a top shelf free agent. I don't want to trade TMAC before he returns to the floor unless we can land a MVP calibur player(which is unlikely).
I never gave up on Tmac, and I STILL believe that he will be a great player in this league. Mark my words : Tmac will lead the Rockets to the playoffs and into atleast the second round. He will comeback from injury and spark the Rockets into a nice playoff run.
Does Mcgrady get considered as being out of the first round this year??? Since basketball is a team effort and he was on the team he should be considered as making it past the first round right?
does it really matter? if you really wanted to measure his individual playoff performances, look at his production. He's off the charts. Him not getting out of the first round is more of a reflection of his team's performance than his own so people who say he chokes in the playoffs because he's never been out of the first round have no idea what they're talking about.
sure... I mean who wouldnt submit himself to a possible career ending surgery, only not to be traded, yes that is a great theory I bet yao will miss next season because he hates houston and wants to get payed without having to play, also since hes injured we cant trade him, oh dont you just hate these fake injuries... on the topic, yes its a great and noble thing to do.
This is the best post of the thread. If I could rep, I would. Yet such a magnificent post still won't put a dent in the blind hatred the board has for Tracy. They've made up their minds about him and there's not a damn thing anybody can do about it, including Tracy himself. He comes back strong this year, and wins a championship. - He just wants another max contract. He comes back strong this year, but we fail to reach the second round again. - Second round virgin! He's not good enough. He re-signs with Houston despite getting higher offers from other teams. - He just wants another ring instead of money to give to Darfur, how selfish. He doesn't come back strong this year, and is forced to retire. - What a quitter.
Wasn't that the BEST when Tracy QUIT on the team in the Toronto game last season? Remember? It was the game where he was pouting because we were playing the Adelman offense? Remember? He let Moon dunk on him on a fast break...stopping and letting him blow by him? Remember? He was so unhappy he let the offense play 4-on-5 for three straight possessions while he stood ONE FOOT inside the HALF COURT line and when passed the ball, he immediately threw it to a double covered teammate? Remember? Worrell and Bullard, paid EMPLOYEES and homers, said they have never seen anything like it? Remember? After the game, when asked about QUITTING, Tmac said, "I just get frustrated when I don't have the ball in my hands" What a great teammate What a great human being What a guy to defend
I typically don't read long posts, but this one is worth reading. It says what some of feel, but have been far too lazy to type. It feels like it's futile to post at times. I don't know your history of posting verse, but this post is one of the best I've read on this board in a long time. Sometimes just saying things like, "people have a what have you done for me lately approach" or things of the like don't seem to get the point across. Sometimes, being fans, people want to do the part in bolded text. Anyway, the point of this thread was to give kudos for his humanitarian efforts regardless of how you feel about his (actually not that bad, exceptfor a couple of games) performance last season. Even still, some people can't separate the two. Again, kudos to you, verse, for a great post. Well...at least I kept nodding "yes" while reading it.
I really can't deny, what he is doing for the people in Darfur is something that deserves much admiration. BUT on the court and off the court he is two different people. And I know that it is probably better that he has a dedication to making the world better rather than making this team better. But that is what I don't understand DEKE had dedication in everything he did and didn't get paid anywhere near what T-mac is getting paid. As a person who is trying to make the world a better place tracy has my respect but as a player he still has much to prove.
Of what relevance is it how much Deke or Tracy gets paid? In the end they're both incredibly wealthy and great humanitarians and ballplayers, so explain your point, please.
Honestly, that was the day I turned on McGrady as a basketball player. But since we're remembering, this will be my reminder list for next time. Reminder: Youre just as great of a human being for not being able to look pass his failures and flaws as a basketball player. Reminder: Youre a great comprehensive reader for reading this and not understanding the point of this thread. Seriously, some of us need to get over it. I specifically said this was for something not basketball and not failed achievements on the court. Mature as a human being, and try to muster up the courage to show this person, not basketball player, a little appreciation for what he is trying to do. I'll apologize ahead for McGrady's action as a humanitarian not getting the Rocket's a title.
The reason why I put salary in there is because even though DEKE has made drastically less than T-mac he is sill dedicated to making the world a better place AND was ALSO dedicated to improving his basketball team (as it was his occupation). I am not bashing Mcgrady for what he is doing for Darfur, as I initially said it is worth much admiration, but his dedication to making his team better (even though he is making 23 million dollars) is extremely questionable.
Thanks, Mr Chuck Norris. It just boggles my mind how people go off the deep when it comes to Tracy. Granted, he is a polarizing figure, but when you have the God Given ability to do what he does in his given profession and it doesn't always translate into the desired results that people are hoping for because of their expectations, that will happen. But to dismiss his contributions to this organization, and more importantly to the world, is narrow minded, short sighted, and an insult to not only Tracy McGrady but also to the Rockets organization, the city of Houston, & the millions of loyal Rocket fans that he represents everytime he puts on that uniform. Give it a rest. The mass hatred for him is going to destroy all of the haters, not the guy that you are hating on.
Tracy is paid to play basketball. Part of playing basketball is making your teammates better. You make your teammates better by getting them the highest percentage shot possible and by putting them in position to succeed. Tracy McGrady has done that better than any Rocket not named Hakeem Olajuwon. His basketball IQ is off the charts and he uses it to consistently try to make his teammates better (ask Chuck Hayes how big Tracy has been to his career). As the GM, it is Daryl Morey's job to make this team better. That job also falls on the coaching staff. Stop laying the blame for everything wrong with the Rockets organization @ Tracy's feet. And if the money is such a problem, take that up with Les. I know that the above is not the point of this thread, but all of these hate filled and idiotic staements have gone too far. Forgive me for my little diatribe.
