Ben Wallace is going to be bought out by the Phoenix Suns. They reportedly will pay him 10 million. I know he was injured last year but what do you think about signing him to help with the center position? I could be possible to take him for pretty cheap and get him maybe for a years, that is if he doesnt retire. what do you all think? http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4325968
Why would he want to come to a rebuilding team unless it was for money, and do you really think he's worth the type of contract it would take in order to lure him here?
I only shudder to think what would happen if the "every player must make 10 free throws before we can leave practice" rule is still in place, and the Rockets roster currently features the likes of Chuck Hayes, Joey Dorsey and Ben Wallace.
If we can get him for the vet min for a 1-year stop gap, why the hell not. We need some BODY at the center position. And who's better to teach the poor man's Ben Wallace (Dorsey) a thing or two than the real Ben Wallace himself?
while I agree that Wallace is a scrub and therefore the premise for the op is off-base. There is rocket worthy discussion from the buyout of Wallace. Phoenix was trying hard to trade his expiring for Chandler and now it is obvious that won't happen. Could it be that another team has offered something more, or are the Hornets willing to assume the loss and try to win?
I wouldn't have a problem with Ben taking Deke's minutes as a backup C, assuming he wants nothing more than the veteran's minimum for one year. If he wants a penny more, I'll pass.
He's lost the love for the game so I don't think he's worried about playing for a non contending young team.
Yes, I will invite him to here, and take a look at him. He will fit this team well if he still has a bit of gas. Of course, we will not give much money to him.
He was talking about retirement at the end of last season. He's not interested in us, and I'm pretty sure we're not interested in him.
