So after 5 years of banking at Amegy, I will be needing a new bank due to pretty bad customer service I've recieved lately in regards to their response to a fraud situation. This will be for a checking account and a savings account, and I am also looking into opening a CD as well. Things important to my decision: 1. Online Billing and Bill Pay services 2. Check Card preferably with Benefits 3. Overdraft Protection 4. No Minimum Balance I have been comparing all the major banks beneifits currently offered but I wanted to see if any of you had a personal recommendation. I'm also opent to the idea of going with a credit union (like SACU or First Service), which could help me finance any future major purchases. Any recommendations or advice is much appreciated.....Thanks
Nothing specific for you, but I'd highly recommend looking into a local credit union. You may not be able to find one that offers benefits with a check card, but most CUs I've encountered do offer the other services that you mention. Customer service is usually a very high priority for credit unions too. Just my $0.02...
was thinking about opening a checking account with chase that has the continental air miles package. anyone have that?
no i meant the actual checking/debit card that you get through them and chase. not an actual credit card. i think its $65 annual fee not sure if its worth it. been doing some research online on how to accumulate miles and how hard it is to use them. but it seems that continental has a calender you can look at when attempting to use your miles and it will show you if that flight has any seats elligible or not. so im thinking it might be worth it...
Yeah, I've been with Wells Fargo for about 15-20 years now, I think and the only reason I'm with them is because they took over my previous bank. I just expect the bank to hold my money for me and not much else. I would think most major banks have accounts with the 4 criteria you mention.
Fellas......just curious, what makes Wells Fargo so nice. My co-worker ahs them and has stated to me numerous times he would switch away from Wells Fargo in a heartbeat, except that his direct deposit with his employer comes in a full 24-36 hours before everyone else at his job that has a different bank.
ive had wells fargo for 15 years. only reason i switched to them in the first place was because there was one on every corner. im the same as the person above really a bank for me just holds my money im not sure what else it supposed to happen ive never overdrawn and i just get money out when i need it.
sorry.. here's the link sorted by overall satisfaction. http://www.jdpower.com/finance/rati...est/sortcolumn-1/descending/page-#page-anchor
I'm with CHASE. I was a WAMU customer for 12yrs, but now since the buyout Chase. I have no complaints. The few times I've Over drafted in the past the bank pays the fees once I put money back into my account. Building up on FFF miles too.
I've been with them for a while too. The only thing I hate is the $2 non-wellsfargo atm fee. Judging for the study posted in the thread, Wachovia is the best. I think Wellsfargo took them over not too long ago.
I'm in the same boat, switched over to Chase from Wamu and so far Chase has been nothing but a help to me. When we got married they helped us set up a joint checking account, also helped me get a new credit card with an 8% interest rate. once you rack up $200 in cash back you can redeem it for a $250 dollar statement credit.
