Alot of people in here seem to believe that the Rockets can be playing around and this is all a smokescreen. Like the indication they would re-sign Hakeem last summer and turned out to be bogus. The Rockets have ALOT to lose if Ming is available and not taken. There is a true excitement in the air that has not been here since they signed Barkley and then Pippen. (Yes at the time I was excited about Pippen coming here and always loved Sir Charles). If they pull one over on us for a dopehead like Odom, there will be hell to pay. Even if they sign Dunleavey, I don't think ANYONE would be excited. You've read the forums and seen the excitement from the asian community in Houston. How do you think they will feel if this is all BS. Those are potential NEW fans that WILL spend money to see their hero play. The Rockets have a lot to gain taking him and a helluva lot to lose if they are pulling our legs. I for one am really excited, so excited that I check this board every 10 minutes from work to read if any new news is coming down or of Windandsea has another update from overseas. Please Rockets.....take a chance on someone that doesn't come around that often. Another Jay Williams, Dunleavy, etc....are a dime a dozen.

Where is "in here"? I remember you mentioning working for UPN20 or the PR department or something? Do you work for the Rockets? I think more people in general will be excited if we draft Yao. However, if we drafted Butler or Dunleavy many basketball fans would still be pretty happy, especially if we watch Yao turn into something less than expected. Obviously Yao would be good for bringing national focu, hell even local focus when we already had little and the Texans taking away what was left. Not to mention all the Chinese fans buying tickets and Rockets gear. It will be a very beautiful thing if Yao pans out and things will get ugly if they do not.
I haven't seen much about smokescreens recently...that's a little crazy on the conspiracy theory to visit China,etc...
