You are spot on. I was thinking Budinger is like half Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins and half Mugsy Bogues.
J.Dorsey Summer League Stats AVG MIN:29:59 FG:56% FT:58% OReb:2 DReb:12.3 Tot:11 Ast:2.3 BS:4 Pts:9.6 impressed?
Joey Dorsey Season 2008 - 2009 MPG 20.3 - 30.0 FG% .824 - .563 FT% .222 - .579 RPG 9.0 - 14.3 APG 1.0 - 2.3 SPG 0.3 - 0.7 BPG 0.3 - 2.7 TO 2.67 - 3.67 PF 4.00 - 5.00 PPG 10.0 - 9.7 last year joey was nothing more than a decent rebounder who might score on a put back. he had little else to offer. this year it looks as if he's filled major holes in his game. he's made a huge stride in FT%, he's passing the ball better, but most importantly... he's become a shot blocker.
Will these games be shown on NBA tv 48 hrs later? Any info on this? I thought i seen someone say that the other day.
How did I not realize that Budinger just turned 21 in May? That makes his summer league showing all the more impressive.
You do realize that Glen Rice averaged more than 26 points per game one season and has a career average of 18+. I hope you're right, but I'm pretty sure you aren't. Are you referring to the Glen Rice that bounced around the league at the end of his career?
His shooting also translates though it would be better if Yao or TMac were there to help space the floor. Unfortunately his lack of defense and rebounding also translate, the defense is worse though because the offensive players are MUCH better. I like Dorsey's showing because rebounding and shot blocking translate very well, especially rebounding because it's a hustle/desire stat.
He has to be. The Glen Rice in his prime was a prolific scorer who was the number 1 option for his team. He's also a 3 time All-star. I'm pretty sure Chase won't come anywhere close to any of Rice's accolades.
You saw Chase moving without the ball hitting, cutting and making jumpers off catch and shoots? Reggie Miller!!
One guy who proved to me he deserves a roster spot is Marty Leunen. If you have to take only one player off our SL roster, I think you gotta go with Dorsey given our shortage at the position, but if you take two, Leunen in my mind has made his case over all the other wings (Budinger, White, Taylor, etc) because he satisfies a need more than the others. When you don't really have a good center option, in my mind it might be your best bet to play Scola or Landry as the single "post" position with Leunen out there as a spread four. He's obviously demonstrated his smarts and his shooting ability in this tournament, and he's also an Oregon alum so Brooks will feel more than comfortable dishing it to him. Of course we don't need to do this; we will probably take at least two of our back-up wings in Wafer, Taylor, and Budinger to provide depth behind Battier and Ariza, but it's good to know that at least one of Morey's late second-round picks is paying off.
In case you guys haven't seen this, here is Chase's highlights during the McDonald's AA game/dunk contest: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9tBe4TIai3A&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9tBe4TIai3A&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Here's a pretty interesting quote from Feigen, who may or may not be more informed than we are: I gather this "White is on the bubble" essentially means that "Taylor is making the team regardless, and White will either be with us if we don't re-sign Wafer or will be cut if do."
