The way I see it, this team currently lacks:
    A. Star players to fill the seats or
    B. Young Star potential types to also fill seats.

I like AB and Landry but I dont think they fall into category B. I cant help but wonder if we are kind of hamstrung at this point into letting Tracy come back and using his star power/intrigue of his return, be the attendance drawer. This entire 2 year stretch for Tracy has had such a polarizing effect, I wonder if this is the plan. With Yao being out for the entirety (most likely) and considering how our roster is currently stacked for opening day (assuming w/o Tracy) I have to think there is going to be a dip in the financial pull of our owner. Couple this with Bima's thread about the possibility of a cap decrease next year, and I wonder if all this could have a negative impact on our spending next year.

Could this lead to them rushing Tracy back? A desperation move? Who knows, but I have to wonder exactly what are we going to market this year, and if the financial ramifications of a slight fallout this year (compared to other previous years, where we had super marketable assets) will have a sour effect on our planned spending?

    /sigh

Tracy is the last person I care to watch on the Rockets nowadays.

New jerseys - if they are sweet - will help the cash flow a little.

    REEKO- Well thoughtout response.

I am not berating the team for whatever they do, I am simply posing a question in regards to the teams finances. Obviously its over your head.

AB is closest thing we have to B. His ceiling is a perennial all-star, he won't ever make the ASG but I could see him having a Jameer Nelson type career.

TMac fans aren't old enough to drive to the arena let alone afford tickets.

Not to mention the fact that they more than likely are few and far between in the greater Houston area.

If he can rehab and come back healthy and we get the old (no pun intended) McGrady - the one who can score and facilitate - a lot of guys trashing him now will be hugging his nuts later.

Edit: this post is not directed at anyone in this thread, but more a general statement

for someone to hang on your nuts, you need to have a pair.

Knowing t-mac, some people might be fingering him when he comes back healthy to the "old him", pun intented

AB is a potential future allstar... common, he's Aaron Brooks... I think he can do it if he continues to unlock his game the way he has and get national attention.

Also, Tracy will be taking the court and that will sell tickets. Unless they make a trade. It would cost us some good players though... I'm willing to be a trade will hurt us most likely...

I don't really see the Rockets having trouble selling tickets, honestly. Without Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, the team was incredibly exciting in the playoffs, and people will remember that. This team could actually be a really fun one to watch.

P.S. - Keeping McGrady's contract is not a bad thing, either. It gives us a lot of flexibility next off-season.

Marketing ploy: Come see T-Mac return. First 5,000 fans get a complementary pack of D batteries courtesy Duracell!

They could market it as Lotto race '09-10, the Quest for the Best...

    ...draft pick.

    Featuring...

    John Wall

We saw what AB can do in this offense when there's no big slow guy in the middle clogging things up. (Of course if that big slow guy has the skills of Yao, then clog away!) From the fact that Morey went after Gortat, it's safe to assume he wants to get a second-tier center who will move to backup when Yao eventually returns. So I think we're going to see of lot of the same AB we saw in the Laker series. I can't imagine Adelman will hold him back when we've got no other really big weapons. AB might finish this season as a legitimate star.

I will support any team the Roxs put on the court. Young players, new players and Coach A putting it all together.

If they roll Tracy out, I'll turn off the T.V. and boycott games!

I can not, will not, watch the Roxs with Tracy on the court.

    Here's a marketing ploy:

I would not like him here or there.
I would not like him anywhere.
I do not like T-mac and ham.
I do not like them Sam-I-am.

I would not, could not in a tree.
Not in a car! you let me be.

I would not, could not on a train.
I could not, would not in the rain.

I could not, would not, on a boat!
I will not, will not with a goat.

I do not like him in a box.
I do not like him with a fox.
I will not watch him in a house.
I will not watch him with a mouse.

I would not, could not in the dark.
I do not like him here or there.
I do not like him anywhere!

Not with a fox, not in a box, defiantly not with the Roxs.
