Starting with the fact that he's an actual point guard.

This would be a solid move by Toronto. I think Jack is a solid player. Solid backup PG. I wonder what the terms will be that will make the Pacers not want to match. You would have to think it would be close to full MLE.

Which Jarret Jack have you been watching or which Luther Head have you been watching?

Their games are not similar at all. I guess some of you guys just like comparing people for the hell of it.

Whats next? Joey Dorsey is a poor man's Rasheed Wallace.

Toronto has quietly assembled a very good team (Bosh, Hedo, Bargnani, Calderon, O'Bryant, DeRozan (rookie), Mensah-Bonsu). If they can add Jack to the mix, what are the odds Bosh leaves next year? I think it might be about time for those in love with him to start giving up on the hopes of signing him next year for the Rockets.

Next year's FA crop is going to have some very nice role players available, but the majority of the superstars will resign with their current teams. Or, at least that's my opinion.

Agreed on Toronto having themselves set up to have a nice team next year (although I think Patrick O'Bryant is a 7'1" stiff who isn't going to meaningfully contribute to an NBA team anytime soon). Plus, by doing the sign-and-trade megadeal for Hedo, the Raptors were able to avoid having to renounce their rights to Carlos Delfino, who they still love.

    Calderon/Jack/Ukic/Banks
    Wright/DeRozan/Douby
    Turkoglu/Delfino/George
    Bosh/Evans/Mensa-Bonsu
    Bargnani/O'Bryant

While their depth isn't that great, they have a fairly solid rotation. If DeRozan develops quickly, they could get good enough quickly enough to persuade Bosh to stay.

Obviously if the Raptors are winning and contending it will increase the odds of Bosh remaining in Toronto. However, that still doesn't change the fact he's in freezing Toronto paying Canadian taxes. History has shown that not many players like to stick around for that.

the raptors aren't going anywhere with this team.

    - they are a bunch of jump shooters (calderon, bargnani, bosh and turkoglu) without an inside presence

    - they are very, very, very soft

    - their best players are average at best defenders

    - they lack a true franchise player (i'm sorry, but chris bosh is not a real franchise player)

    - the overall talent level of their team is overrated

if i was a raptors fan i'd be pissed. :(

I agree, I don't think they upgraded their talent all that much and they over paid Hedo. They better win with this group or Bosh leaves for sure.

The Barneys are doomed to failure next season because they still can't touch the Magic, Celts or Cavs. Plus, I'm still not willing to concede the 4th seed to them either. Either the Heat, Hawks or Wizards (or all of them) will push the Barneys on the road in the 1st round (and an early exit from the playoffs).

Unless Colangelo makes another major move, Chris Bosh will likely start the season on fire, eventually settle into frustration mode and count the days to free agency. They might trade him before the deadline.

The only other way the Barneys can take a big step is for Bargnani to play like a superstar over the course of the season instead of in spurts, but I don't think he has it in him. The talent is there but the heart is not. Hope I'm wrong because I'd like to see them do well.

I'm in Toronto, some of their fans are excited about getting Hedo. I've talked to some Raptor fans about the lack of an identity since, they don't defend or rebound.
One guy said the firing of Sam Mitchell was a big mistake, some other guys praised Andrea over the progress he made and felt it showed that they were going in the right direction. I told them the Raptors are built to play in the Euro League, not in the NBA.

    Some thoughts on your thoughts:

-a jump shooting team isn't a bad thing if you don't miss. See Timberwolves during Garnett's heyday (with Cassell and Sprewell)

-"soft" is a made-up word that doesn't really mean anything. Artest is perceived as one of the toughest players in the league. Dirk is perceived as one of the softest players in the league. This isn't a streetfight, we had a guy my mom could probably beatup win two straight MVPs. Who would you rather have on your team?

-Bosh can play like a true franchise player. He just doesn't want to play like one when his team has no hope of competing. Kinda' reminds me of Tmac and Carter. Maybe its something about the Canadian air that makes players lose their fire.

-I don't think anybody is overrating the Raps. Anybody who thinks they'll make it to the eastern finals with the Celts, Cavs and Magic already there are just deluding themselves
