If McGrady would come in and be a playmaker for other players and not take it on him self to try and dominate the ball I would not mind him on the team. But too often last year he thought he was the offense and did not play team ball. There was no point during last season that the Rockets were not a better team with him anywhere else but at the game. Give me a motivated TMac that is willing to put some effort into defense and not the one that was schooled by Jamario Moon and I would not ming d him back
That's just your guess, right? Just wanted to make sure there wasnt a recent mention of this in the blog..
Here's what I want. McGrady recovers to the point we know he can play. We hold him out and he agrees to a trade to a team cutting salary. They cut him and we re-sign him for a playoff push after we have used his expiring to acquire talent. Like it or not, when healthy (yeah I know, WHEN) McGrady is one of the top 5 most highly skilled offensive forces in the NBA. If he could come back to 80%, he would be better than all but a handful of guys on the offensive end. IF.........
I don't know why everyone is moaning about Tracy potentially being around for a few games this season. If Morey can't get some decent value out of him now, let him go out there and prove to aspiring teams he still has some in the tank (now whether you buy into that or not is your choice).
As for the Battier for Pryz, I agree it's a decent trade, but you have to kind of expect there to be more elements. Battier is a no brainer, but depending on what happens with this Boozer trade someone else must be on the list. I'm good with Pryz and Rudy.
Another update of McGrady: While on the subject of McGrady, he has taken his first on-court steps in his rehab. It is, be design, not much, just some light cuts, set shots and free throws. Reports are pretty optimistic, with McGrady's leg strength particularly encouraging. http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2009/07/rockets_win_thriller_ok_it_was.html
After reading many comments about T-Mac once he went down, it seems like people here do not want him even if he recovers and comes back strong. I may be in minority in here, but I really hope that he fully recovers and gives us some hope with this upcoming season. Heck if he comes back event at 85%-90% of T-Mac of old, I would be happy to see him play with Rockets beyond next season.
He needs to sit out at least until January, IMO. Of course, I'm not a doctor, I just play one on the internet. However, the reports were that he'd be out at least a year and that happened at the trade deadline. My fear is that he would come back too early and he'd re-injure himself.
Uh what? Am I missing something? I fail to see how this means that Battier is going to be traded? He was our starting shooting guard last season and is the only healthy player on the roster currently who has played any NBA minutes at shooting guard. I'm lost.
Wow, I'm surprised he's already started with the on-court stuff. Sounds like his rehab is going well. I wonder if the Rockets and McGrady would agree to him staying with the team if he came back strong and then was willing to accept a contract in the $10-12 million range. Is there any way of doing that and still getting a big-name FA in the summer of 2010?
Hope he never plays again as a Rocket. Just ship him out for the best deal possible, whenever that is.
I think that when Yao was still in the options for next season, McGrady was more likely to get traded. Right now, the deal needs to really make scense. But right now the Rockets are missing a Shooting Guard and McGrady when healthy has been a top 5 player in the league. Scola Landry Ariza McGrady Brooks That looks like a good line up. McGrady can help Brooks with the ball handling.
Shooting Guard??? I thought that was our Ole buddy Ron Ron? Ariza and Battier do the same thing so the assumption is that Battier being older is gone. Battier/Brooks For Rudy F./Outlaw/Bayless or Joel P.
I would consider a trade like that, certainly, but I really do not mind a starting line up that contains Batter and Ariza. What I've learned from Morey's Rockets is that defense is the thing to build around, and if you have the right pieces the offense will come naturally. I love Shane and I would hate to see him go.
