The movie looks promising and seeing how big Eminem is now I don't see why the movie won't do so well. Im not an Eminem fan but I respect his style.
Actually this is interesting. Define Crap. I think the question is mostly What do you look for in a Rap song? Rocket River Lyrics, Flow, Music, and content
What I mean by crap? I'm sorry for not clarifing. I mean rappers with no lyrical skill whatsoever. Their delivery is never on point, they bundle words together just to get a rhyme with no sense of timing. This would be excusable if they actually had something to say or brought some science. But they don't, they just regurgitate what they said in a previous track. "Freestyle pros" in no way. Cash Money, Wreckshop, Swisher House, Dope House.... If Eminem is "flavor of the month" than these acts are off the charts in whackness. And I am not an EM fan. Do I think they should be wiped of the map? No, I realize that alot of rappers are in it to attain fame and wealth, and could care less about skill and art. However as a hip hop fan, I wish they would atleast try to bring some skill, out of respect to the "Hip Hop Vehicle" with which they are getting rich. Do I think people are dumb for listening to them? No, I understand not everyone is a Hip Hop head nor should they be. I don't believe in "Underground vs. Mainstream". I have no problem with someone liking catchy beats and lyrics. But I do know what "I" consider crap. In my opinion, a lack of makes a rapper "crappy" (for lack of a better term). I do not mean to imply that all H-town rappers are crap. I'm definitely feelin K-otix and a few acts I caught around the way. And I'm a big Scarface fan, but they aren't dominating the airwaves like Wreckshop and company are right now. Bottom line, I think Wreckshop and Cash Money and so on, sucks. I don't listen to screwed mixtapes and maybe I'm missing something great. Their punishment for sucking? I don't buy their records, I don't listen to them, and I wouldn't recommend them (Like, they are really hurting from that ). But, in no way am I trying hate on anyone for diggin that stuff. I'm sorry if it appeared that way.
I think his stuff is good. Not U2, KRS-1, Public Enemy, Neville's, Ice-T good, but interesting nontheless. He really speaks to an predominently alienated, egocentric and violent white sub-culture better than anyone else I have heard. I don't agree with most all of his views and wouldn't want a friend like that if he at all is what he raps (this often isn't true for artists anyway--often they are just playing a roll), but that doesn't stop me from appreciating his music. In the same way I can appreciate some gangster rap otherwise offensive (I don't see the songs as messages to be criminals or act a certain way toward women or what not, but rather I seem them as pointing out a reality whose story isn't being told and isn't understood by mainstream society). BTW-he even says him being White is a big part of his success. Why would anyone question that.
Man, theres nothing I hate more than ****in Swisha house. I was themanager for our basketball team at school and i was tortured on long bus rides with this bull****. It sounds like someone rapped into one of those little tape recorders you have when you listen to those read along books at age 3 and put the playback on extra slow.
Tell me about it. My college roommate next year really likes them. Looks like I'm going to suffer through a lot of that slowed down **** for a while.
I just don't like them. I think they are horrible song writers. Basically their music reminds me of every horrible 80's boy-meets-girl-but-boy-too-geeky-for-girl-boy-turns-cool-and-gets-girl movie. Their style annoys me to no end.
My vote is that Em is good. He's not the average white rapper, trust me. This guy is old school. Have you heard him in the Rap Olympics from a few years back? He tore it up. Em can hang with any of the heavies in the game right now. EDIT: Old school rappers are the best imho because they freestyle. Em freestyles WELL.
