Public Enemy 8/10 can never go wrong with mr. depp Ice Age 7/10 it was funny, lots of jokes in there that only the adults would get.
At the theaters, I saw "The Hangover." 8/10. Freakin' hilarious and very entertaining and original. I highly recommend it. On DVD, I saw "Righteous Kill" a few nights ago. 6.5/10. I liked the twist and I found the movie alright. A lot of people have said it's dreadful. Needless to say, I never saw it that way.
Knowing - 8/10 Da Vinci Code - 8/10 Angels and Demons - 7/10 The Hangover - 9/10 Knowing is pretty average actually but the ending was out of the ordinary and not your typical ending to a disaster movie. It was quite disturbing, but that's why I give it an 8.
Making up my own grading scale... Transformers 2 = Biggio turning a triple into a double Public Enemies = Pujols vs Lidge Moon = Sliding into 3rd to beat a throw... (or for you more traditional folk...) Transformers 2 = 7/10 Public Enemies = 9/10 Moon = 8/10
Public Enemies - One of my most anticipated summer films, which probably was the problem. To me it was just ok. I didn't like the home video feel for the shooting scenes, and overall the story too simplified. Honestly the Discovery channel version was more interesting. 6.5/10 Terminator Salvation- Went from intriguing, to stale, to ridiculous, to flat out comedy, to just a joke. One of the worst big budget movies I have ever seen. Left the theater laughing and shaking my head. 3/10 3:10 to Yuma- brings back the western genre. Great from start to finish, one of Bale's finest. Especially after recent flops such as the above two. 8.9/10 Drag Me To Hell- scary, disgusting, tasteless, hilarious, and brilliant. All at once. One of the best movies I've seen. Maybe this is just my type of movie, and it may turn some off, but Sam Raimi has hit a sweet spot with this one. 9.6/10
The Proposal - 7/10. Lots of date friendly funny moments. The actual end-of-movie romance was forced and a bit hard to believe.
The Amityville Horror (original) - 8/10. I never actually watched the whole thing until I watched it on AMC last night. It had it's cheesy moments (like any horror movie) but I think it stands the test of time pretty well. There were some seriously creepy moments, especially knowing that the whole thing is based on a true story. I kind of expected to wake up at 3:15 this morning...
Event Horizon (20%) - Somehow, someway, I thought I had heard this movie was really good and I was very much looking forward to it...that's why I put it at the top of my Netflix cue last week. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. This thing was a rotten, steamy pile of dog s**t. Not scary, not thought-provoking, no action, no suspense, no brains, no comedic relief, zero character development...just an hour and a half long, nonsensical stumble to the finish line. It really only gets points because by default I love the atmosphere and scenery of sci-fi space movies. Highly recommended for masochists.
That's about what I'd give it. Lame plot, and I can't for the life of me figure out what they were thinking with Devastator. You couldn't make out any of the vehicles he transformed into. And the fighting with the robots just made my head hurt trying to figure out who was who. Ugh.
I like watching sets of films from directors who have a unique style, like Hitchcock, Orson Welles, Spielberg, etc. So the latest I've been into is Stanley Kubrick. Basically, his last 8, and my ratings: Lolita, 6/10 Dr. Strangelove, 10/10 2001 A Space Odyssey, 10/10 A Clockwork Orange, 8/10 Barry Lyndon, 7/10 The Shining, 10/10 Full Metal Jacket, 8/10 Eyes Wide Shut, 7/10 The Shining is especially the one I keep coming back to- music score, Jack Nicholson, the twin girls, RedRum- great movie.

I finally saw transformers 2 last night... It was much better than the first one, if only for more robot action. 6/10
I saw "The Hangover" a couple of weeks ago. Funniest movie I've seen in the theater since "There's Something About Mary". Saw "I Love You, Beth Cooper" today.... I enjoyed it, but it's one of those movies that probably won't stick with me for long.
'Brick' directed by Rian Johnson. sort of an indie detective/film noir genre type thing, set in high school. I'd give it an 8.5/10, very good considering this is the director's first movie. i think this guy will definitely make an all-time classic sometime down the road. 'Paprika' by Satoshi Kon. Interesting stuff, it's a japanese animated film exploring the boundaries between real and surreal, imagination and consciousness. 9/10, the artwork is incredible and i love these kinds of movies.
