Everyone... You have to take into account the amount of game time these guys have together. Nothing prepares you fully for a game like the game before the one your about to play. So take this for what it is "THE FIRST SUMMER LEAGUE GAME!" now look for improvements and drawbacks in game two.

Well, if you would read the posts you would realize that I am saying he is a valuable role player that fits a need on this current team.

And if it bugs you so much, use the ignore feature....

And as for caring about respect, I suspect that as you grow older you will start to care.

Then people will care about what you have to say yourself, at least the respectful mature ones.

You overestimate so much Dorsey's defense.
Hayes's defense is one of the best in the League. Most of the best PF and centers in the League struggled a lot under his defense.
    Dorsey...

If you read this board you would know a good many people think the Rockets should just let him go.....

IMO, that would be a mistake, as he is a young player with the potential to grow and with Yao out, we need players that might develop into more.....lots of them, because most won't pan out.

So, you sign Von on the cheap....and hope he is one of the ones that does pan out.

At least that is my opinion.

And if you care less about what people think then why are you on Twitter, and more importantly why are you advertising your twitter....LOL.

    by the way DD...
one wrong thread to be praising Von
two he WAS a valuable role player (who didn't know his role)
three he's completely replaceable (white, budinger, taylor, temple, luenen... all diff types of players but can change the tempo for the better in our system)

So take it to another thread and stick to the players that just won the first game in Las Vegas

Yeah, that is yet to be seen....none of those guys has any NBA experience, and most would not even crack an NBA roster, or rotation.

People putting so much value on guys that are not even in the league or hanging on by a thread to replace guys that are scoring 10ppg in 20 minutes are not people I want to engage in a basketball discussion, because they are not thinking clearly.

Emphasize what players have DONE in the league over what players MIGHT do in it.

I hope many of you don't think it is the end of the world after this game.

To be honest, (I watched the game, just the second half though because I was working 1st half... well I was "working" 2nd half too) I dont think any players on the rockets SL team will make our actual roster. Leunen wasn't bad, but he needs to bulk up and be more aggressive and play with more passion. He seems to complacent, and the same goes for budinger.

    Some positives I saw:

A great pass by one of our point guards passing up a 3 to dorsey downlow for a slam (no audio so couldn't tell who it was)

A solid block by dorsey, as well as dorsey being active on the boards. The problem is, we have someone who does what dorsey does better in hayes.

Some overall good front court defense on curry and acie law, both of these guys are NBA starting material and we kept them in check.

No one stood out though, especially not enough to earn a spot on our roster. Although entering this draft came at no cost for us, I am glad we didn't try to trade up or anything, because it seems to me this was definately a down year for the draft (and no I am not making that judgment solely off this SL game)

    Ok DD,

I have to give my two cents on Wafer. He was huge coming off the bench filling it up when the offense was struggling. Wafer is not afraid to take the shot when the offense is getting bogged down. Alot of guys shy away at that. I was disappointed with his attitude late in the season, you would think a guy who has struggled to make it in the league would appreciate things a little more. Stay humble and hungry. That being said hopefully he is learning from all of this. We will prolly need his scoring punch this year. I would sign him to a two year deal at the right price

No clearly it was just game 1, but to be honest I expected someone to stand out at the wing or PG position, and no one did..

I was really dissappointed in James White he is a 26 year old who averaged 26ppg in the D-league, he should have had a much higher impact here IMO.

Maybe it was just game 1 struggles, but true NBA talent usually stands out there.

Aaron Brooks, Nate Robinson, Donte Green etc........

I totally agree on White, he seemed to be pressing. I know it's just one game but I expected him to look much better

Not all the time. I'm sure there has been rookies who turned out fine in the NBA but sucked in the summer league as well as though that dominated summer league but sucked in the NBA.

I assume what you are talking about though is skillset rather statistics which I think we should give these kids a few more days to get more comfortable out there.

Sorry I missed this arguing with the peanut gallery.

I am not sure Maarty has a spot on this team though I think he is an NBA player.

He is super smart, takes the right angles to the ball, rebounds well, and stays within himself.

I do think there is a chance he makes it this year, but that would depend on how many PFs the Rockets carry...and whether Scola or Landry is traded, or Dorsey is cut.

I think his ability to shoot the 3 ball would be a huge asset, as would his familiarity playing with Brooks.....

But I think in his case, it is a roster dependent situation, as once he is signed the team has to keep him or lose his rights if they cut him.

So, if the team remains as is, I think he goes back overseas and then maybe comes over next year.

To me it is about 40/60 he plays in Houston this year....but 100% that he plays in the NBA in the next 2 years....

He is an NBA talent....as a role player.

The way DD describes Leunen, he sounds like a Bonner/Scalabrine sort of guy. Very smart, can shoot threes, can somewhat rebound, and plays hard. As Bonner and Scab have proven, there is always room for those type of players in the NBA.

Those are good comparisons though I think Maarty will be better than both, he is more in tune with the game...seems more heady......seems more in control.

Those are two perfect examples. Now that you say those names, from what I saw today I would agree. I'm going to watch him closely during the coming games. His game was very together today, where with others the play was very sloppy. His time may come sooner than later

greene hasnt do anything since the summer league.

i expected more from pretty much all of the players but im not as disappointed as everyone here seems to be.

chase didn't look 100%. i thought i heard someone mention that he had a minor injury but i could be wrong. regardless he's not that far off from what I expected. needs to attack the boards harder but that's about it. he has pretty good hands from what I saw but obviously needs to work on his finishing. looked pretty good defensively to me.

i thought dorsey was fine. he attacks the glass. a lot of turnovers but i think it was obvious he was looking for his own offense a lot more than he would normally.

flight white was a disappointment. hope he shows up bigger next game.

no point guard stood out, although will conroy was our best PG today imo. everyone seems disappointed by this but i don't see how this is a big problem for us going into next season.

remember that it's just one game. stephen curry looked awful pretty much the entire game too (although I actually do think he'll be a bust).

wafer usually plays a lot better than how any of the guys played today, but I have doubts about how much more he can grow as a player. he's still pretty immature. Look at how shane responded to that cheap shot by kobe or getting that big gash on his face and look at how wafer responded under physical pressure by vujacic (or after getting pulled obviously).

the nice thing about wafer is that he actually has moves (for example the crossover pullup or the floater going to his right) that he practices and goes to. didn't see much of that today from anyone other than chase on some catch and shoots.
