So, they don't want to match Gotart's offer?

I believe he was the backup plan for Portland if they couldn't get Milsap, so it might increase the chance of that signing going through...which could be the green light for our "secret" deal with the Blazers.

This is a great signing for Orlando. Bass is an underrated post presence imo. He'll fit them better than Gortat did because he's more aggressive and perhaps even better at the jumpshot. Rebounds and putbacks wise, I think he's more effective than Gortat. The Magic are set at the C and SG positions at least.

DAMMIT. Great signing by the Magic. Bass and Dwight could be very scary together in the future...

For that price I wonder if he would have considered H-town.

When would he play? You don't like Landry

yeah, i agree with you in that bass is more important than gortat for the magic. rashard lewis may be able to move back to the small forward position, which should improve his efficiency (he's not the type of player to defend power forwards in the post, despite his height). plus, bass can actually play with dwight howard on the floor, whereas gortat cannot because he is a pure center - he's not athletic enough to play power forward. i can see bass taking advantage of the attention howard receives in the post to score really easily.

    Anything....

    Jumpshot with a 7-2 wingspan, +natural rebounder.

Assets, assets, assets. At this point, positions do not matter as much imo...

Damn, they lose Gortat, and still manage to improve their depth on the front line. Bass is an animal in the paint.

No question now, they will not match Gortat. Guess they'll keep Foyle to backup at center. Good signing by the Magic, Rashard is no PF.

I hope they sign and trade Gortat to some other team so that the mavs get screwed

I guess I must have slept through the part where Brandon Bass became good.

The Magic couldn't trade him for a year without his permission if they matched.

Yeah, no kidding. I'm seeing terms like "natural rebounder" and "beast" thrown around like he's a combination of Barkley and Moses in their prime. Let's hold off on the hyperbole when the guy averaged around 4.5 boards while playing around 20 minutes per game. Nice player? Could be. But let's avoid the hype on Brandon-Freaking-Bass.

he's a good fit though, he has a very good mid-range jumpshot, is tough inside and hasn't had much an oppurtunity to showcase his game. he's one of those energy PF's much like Landry, yet we don't go around calling him "not that good."

his stats adjusted for 36 minutes is nearly 16 points and over 8 rebounds.

This is nothing but treble for the rest of the Eastern Conference.

He's just another undersize PF like Landry. good mid-range, hustle. But will get killed by a post-up PF.

Bass is a very good pickup for Magic. Good complimentary PF to go alongside Dwight Howard.

Losing Bass hurts the Mavs. I am not sure if Gortat replacing Bass improves their frontline by much. Bass playing alongside or relieving Gortat certainly would have. Bass is a very good outside shooter and helped space the floor for the Mavs. He is particularly good at pick and roll plays.
