UVerse doesnt have NBATV, thats my only complaint about it so far. It seems like they have enough channels to slide it in there somewhere. Its got NFL network though.
I call and choose the cancel service option. This takes you to the customer retention department rather than just a regular CSR. Then either complain about something that is actually happening with your picture, or complain that new customers are getting these great deal while a loyal customer like you gets nothing.
I never understood the total love for Uverse, with people shocked anyone doesn't like it - definitely has some drawbacks. I had it for about a month and switched back to Dish, which I thought was much better. My biggest issue for my family with Uverse was TH-DVR was terrible and not really a total home DVR. The big issue with it is you can't pause/rewind/FF every tv and until recent couldn't even record/delete from every tv, just the one with the DVR box, which in my family was a deal killer - which is a funny thing to say nowadays, but that is the time we live in and kids get grumpy w/o out (I know a tad spoiled). With Dish they gave me 2 DVR's (higher memory than Uverse) so I have four TV's I can do everything from - as well as record online like Uverse. Then you throw in the superior HD on Dish/Direct compared to Uverse and some channels Uverse didn't have, I had to switch back. That being said if Uverse ever gets a true TH-DVR then I will switch back because I like to package everything together. But let's not act surprised..........because Uverse has some issues too.....
I haven't been out of contract for probably the last 5 years. That's the thing, usually when they give me one of these deals it extends the contract. But that's never bothered me because I don't plan on leaving.
i laughed. EDIT: in other news...we may be keeping it after all....had a technician out today who told us he can fix the problem once and for all...of course, he can't fix the "no MLB Network" problem which really sucks for me and my boys.
take advantage of the NFL promotion with Directv while its available (if it isn't going on now it will be soon, they seem to have it every summer)
is there going to be any service that's going to working for 100% of the people? no so if it's not working for Madmax, then he should try something else. doesn't make Uverse bad..or directv good. that's why we have choices..
Because I'm a stay at home dad, I have Uverse on almost all day every day. I've had to switch out a DVR box but that's about it - I've had it since just after IKE. They just did a big upgrade this week which added Record function to your extra boxes. That caused a system reset but that was it. MadMax - are you in an area where new customers might be being added at a high rate? I could tell when they upgraded us a few months ago, it was chopy for a few days then smooth sailing after that.
ATT is terrible. I had dsl with them and closed the account when I swtiched to TWC. For months they kept sending me a bill for $2. I would pay it and call to make sure there was a zero balance and that the accoutn was closed and they would assure me it was. This went on for months, so I finally asked if it was some sort of scam. That finally stopped it and they actually sent me a check for $2 dollars A few years later I called thinking I would switch to uverse. They noted that I had a $2 balance that was in bad standing and was going to collections but they would be nice enough to waive that for me. I went off on them and then hung up and stayed with Directv.
Hey guys, What is the minimum package you need to get to be able to get Fox Sports SW for rockets games? My parents want to switch and I could not find it on their channel list.
It looks like it's available with every package but Uverse Family. They FINALLY upgraded 1755 so that it shows programs other than live games. I was getting tired of being able to see Fox Sports Ohio shows while our channel was only good for games. Watching last night's replay in HD now.
Yup - I've had some seriously bad experiences with them. Besides them cutting off my parents internet connection because someone signed up for geocities account (http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4367364&postcount=10), there's one other notable experience I'll share: I had phone service through them - every time it rained, the phone lines would be horribly static-y to the point where I couldn't even hear the dial tone or the person on the other end. So of course, I have to wait for the static to die down to call... I call to complain, they send someone out to look at it. They say they don't detect anything wrong. If it continues to happen, call back. So of course it rains again, I call again, this time I call while it's still static-y so that hopefully someone can hear what I'm hearing. The person on the other end says they can't hear anything wrong, and since the last repair guy said there's nothing wrong, they can send someone out... for $400 dollars. OR I can sign up for their home protection plan, and it's only $5 a month, and then the cost of someone coming out would be covered. So I say sign me up. So someone comes out, replaces the lines - the ones on the outside of the building - and everything works fine. Then I get my bill the next month. I owe $480 dollars. I call and ask what the hell is up with the home protection plan, and they tell me that I never signed up for it, please pay $480. After a week of me and my father calling them and talking to managers and managers managers, we finally reach an agreement that they'd waive the fees, and that I would "actually" sign up for the protection plan for the remainder of my service. Then 9 months later I cut off the service and got a cell phone with T-Mobile. I will NEVER EVER give money to AT&T if I can avoid it. They're on my permanent $h!+ list.
Been with Uverse for 2 1/2 months and not a single problem with internet or television. I'm in the Woodlands.
I threatened to cancel on them while still in contract and they offered me free DVR and a $5 credit for 6 months. If you've never done it, it is worth a try. Supposedly it works with most cell phone/telephone/cable. There was a recent study on it.
If you're a loyal customer with good payment history that can work in your favor too. As I stated earlier in the thread, I just upgraded to DirecTV's Premiere HD package. I got a pretty sweet deal because of that when I told them I wanted to upgrade and because of the deal being offered to new customers. I got an HD DVR for free, I got the HD service free for 6 months, I got the advertised price for a savings of $20 a month, plus an additional $10 off for the next 12 months.
