Hey, I just looked up Donyell's salary on Bskball.com and it's only listed as $5.25 mil. I don't know why I was thinking $8 mil. $5 mil makes it a whole different ball game. That's not that high of a salary for that kind of production. If you think it is, check out the salaries at this site:

Will Perdue and Luc Longley make over $5 mil? And I thought Cato might be overpaid. :eeks:

OK Dreamer, you keep on saying Marshall and Horry are nothing alike . Again, how many other guys fit this description??

I have a hard time finding a better player to compare Marshall with than Horry, and likewise a better player to compare Horry with than Marshall. This is why I brought up Horry in the 1st place, it even makes a more interesting conversation on a Rocket board because many are quite familar with Horry (if less familar with Donyell). I guess Los is pretty similar too, though not as good as either (because he can't shoot nearly as well) though he comes real cheap and is a nice "team" guy so I like him on the roster. To me the Horry-Marshall is quite a reasonable and interesting contrast between the players because they play the same positions, are similar in most statistical categories (shootings%'s, steals, blocks, assists, TOs) and physical features. What I also maintain is the main substantive difference (yes they have a couple of "dissimilarities"--but find any two players in the league that don't differ somewhere in stature or performance) between them is 3 years in age + rebounding intensity--both in Donyell's favor. I can also buy Horry is somewhat more athletic or defensively skilled--but nowadays it is extremely slight difference if any at all. But if you keep on splitting hairs I am sure you can find some other differences--whether practically relevant or not to them as functioning veteran 3/4.

You can maneuver numbers around all day.

Robert Horry has been in this league 8 years, and Donyell Marshall 6 years. So, let's not simply compare one year.

I have already said and you have not refuted that fact that:

    Horry is more athletic
    Horry has a better FG%
    Horry is a better defender
    Horry is a better passer
    Marshall is a better rebounder
Horry's career has taken a downturn
Marshall's career has taken an upturn

Now those are SEVEN major differences in their games, what else do you want me to say?

    Horry doesn't wear cornrows
    Horry's eyes don't bug out like Marshall's
Marshall and Horry have different parents
Marshall and Horry went to different highschools
Marshall and Horry went to different colleges
Marshall and Horry play on different teams
Marshall and Horry are different ages

I mean, I could go on all day with pointless differences, but I've already made my case as to why they are different. You on the other hand have said:

Marshall and Horry are similar heights
Marshall and Horry are similar weights
Marshall and Horry play similar positions on the floor
Marshall and Horry both shoot the 3 (this is the ONLY aspect of their GAME you've mentioned, not associated with one year)

If height, weight, and postion make players similar, then why aren't Elie, Penny Hardaway, Tariq Abdul-Wahad, Nick Anderson, Toby Bailey, Ryan Bowen, and the seemingly hundreds of other 6'6"-ish, 220lbs-ish, guards all similar to Michael Jordan?

Ugh, I just wrote a big long post about this and of all things when I tried to post it the forum didn't let me (I think I some how screwed up the replay with quotes). Then when I went back on the browser I lost the entire post, maybe it is sign to move on. Dreamer if you want to read it I'll write an abbreviated format. Otherwise, we can agree to disagree on this one.

Oh i don't think Horry and Marshal are similair I just meant that I agree with Sir that Donyell is a good ball player, most guys on this board knock his game and I was just defending it.

P.S. Horry's D is not even 1/4 of what it used to be. He still gets blocks and his steals but they are more of Cato type stats look nice but very misleading.

    Let's just agree to disagree.

I'm getting tired of arguing a topic that has so little to do with the Rockets anyway. [IMG]

    Til we meet again.
