No, we are not.......Amare is not all that much of an upgrade in production over Scolandry.... He is an upgrade, but let's not say championship yet....it would be a low level seed in the playoffs without more roster upgrades. DD
cook if traded would be a filler. noway he is anything of value. if we get a decent center in a trade, we'd have to give up one of our contributing players, maybe along with a draft pick or cash. but i guess we still have our MLE. so we have the assets or cap room to get our center. the question is, who can we get?
If true, I would do this deal in a heartbeat. This move immediately puts us back in the playoffs. Fernandez cannot get his own shot off, that was exposed brutally in the 1st round series vs. the Rox. You can get away with that overseas and sometimes in the regular season, but not in the playoffs. JRich gives us another scorer with size who CAN create his own shot(something that also was exposed brutally in the 2nd round, but this time to us vs. LA) and I believe that almost everyone would agree that JRich is a better offensive player that RonRon. I love the idea of Amare playing the 5. Oh yeah...plus this trade doesn't get rid of our 2 PG's..which I am ecstatic about because I love AB and can't wait to see how much more he improves between his 2nd and 3rd year. I hate to see Battier leave, but w/o Yao getting doubled he won't get as many 3pt looks as he would if Yao was playing this upcoming season. I hate to see Landry go, but if this trade goes down, basically we will be getting Amare and JRich for a 2nd rounder(Landry) and a run down T-Mac + expiring contract. Go Morey Go...
That's fine. I'm not sold that Brooks-Richardson-Ariza-Scola-Amare(with lowry, hayes, taylor, etc as a bench) is good enough to beat stacked teams like San Antonio or Boston in the short term. Playoff team, sure. Championship team I doubt. Regardless, the deal makes the team much better and fits well with the youth movement. Thus, I do it.
i think you are totally underestimating our guys. these guys have been through wars last season with all the injuries. we have some experienced leaders on this team. if we get a center, have dorsey play the back up. i think we are back in business.
I probably value Battier more than most because I feel he is way to important to the rockets in their retooling quest. Having two good defenders on the perimiter can actually help them win now. Giving up a Tracy McGrady, Carl Landry and a Shane Battier for Amare and Richardson just seems like alot to me. Richardson cannot play a lick of defense and Amare has his moments as well (but I am huge Amare fan). Just my opinion, but I would be very surprised if houston traded Battier in this upcoming season and I don't feel that they will keep him till he's 34yrs of age.
You guys both don't realize that Amare and J-Rich are still both in their primes. They also fit with the "athletic/freak" type player that excells in today's "soft" game. Finally, they would instantly pick-up Adelman's system (especially J-Rich), and we'd still hold our own defensively with Amare's rebounding.
I think Shane is very valuable defensively too, but you have to factor his lack of offense into the equation. Look at it this way: Richardson(all offense) for Battier(all defense), then an injured T-Mac(who burned his bridges here from all accounts) and Landry for a stud, young big in Amare. So you lose a bit on the battier/j-rich swap. You gain much more by getting Amare and you do have to give to get in trades.
Hello, no. The last thing for this team is to get another injury-prone player who is asking a max. This team only needs a good center to compete this year, and sign C. Bosh or other good players next year with the free money from Tmac or Yao.
Does not make sense to trade the heart and soul of our defense (especially now that Artest is gone) for a couple of soft guys. Neither plays defense neither is a good passer. They just don't seem to fit in the Adelman system. If we give up Battier to a team needing a defensive stopper then we should get some defense back in the package. Stoudamire has bad knees and hsitorically his type of injury is only fixable for a couple of years and continues to degrade. He also wants big bucks and for the long term. JRich is ..... well what is JRich besides overpaid and an asset that keeps getting traded by non playoff teams. This does not sound like a Morey type deal. We can get better fits for our system in trade for McGrady at the deadline if needed and for Battier and for Landry.
