I'll take heat for this, but I hope this trade falls though. I just think Amare has too many question marks to build a franchise around. I'd much rather try to sign Bosh next Summer.
He is getting fatter and older.. and his windmills are now subject to getting blocked from behind, whereas they used to be a thing of beauty.. He is on the fast decline, unless he spurs up some initiative to work on his weight and athleticism again.
What is the source on this? It seems too good to be true. PG: Brooks / Lowry SG: Richardson / Taylor SF: Ariza / Budinger or White PF: Stoudemire / Scola C: Yao / Dorsey or Hayes (or maybe Channing Frye?) Younger and more athletic. FYI, the Rockets will only have enough cap space to sign 1 big time free agent next summer. So acquiring Richardson along with Stoudemire doesn't ruin our chance to get Bosh & Johnson, Bosh & Wade, etc. - we have no chance to bring in a combo of stars. Bosh & Wade will likely end up playing together in Miami or New York, but not here.
Amare dropped 38 a game on duncan during the playoffs. He has injury concerns, but as an offensive player I put him second to no one.
Exactly what I thought when I read it. Have Portland throw in Outlaw with Rudy for Shane and it's a done deal. And to the people asking why would Portland get rid of Rudy, Martell Webster is coming back this year and Nate AND Roy are in love with the guy. With Roy/Martell/Outlaw/Rudy/ and Batum all potentially spending time at the 2 or 3 slots, someone(s) will have to be moved eventually Not a fan of trying to "retool" around Amare by the way
This trade would be a nice move for all teams involved, and there's no reason why I wouldn't do it if I were any of those GMs.
fixed it at the same time richardson is like 28-29? I think he is a year or two younger than Battier and they bought were drafted in the same year. Somehow that doesnt fit in what is trending to be Morey's vision of the team of mid-late 20s somethings that can grow together. i am not sure if giving up all those pieces will help us in the short or long run...I can see Amare being part of the team's plan in 2010 and beyong but where does richardson fit?
The problem is the cap may drastically lower, and as someone said that favors teams that want to resign these guys. Also Hedo may be able to make get the Raptors back to being a top 4 East team. Lets not forget they had a bad season much like the Wizards...one bad year. They haven't been bad for the past 4 seasons. With Calderon, Hedo, Bargnani, Bosh...Bargs has really improved I can easily see this guy being a all-star in the NBA at his age and how he has improved... I'd say there is a good chance Bosh resigns as Toronto can offer him the most especially with a lower cap.
Richardson will probably get you about what Tmac will. Amare is better than Landry. Plus, if we kept TMac, we'd be lucky to sign someone as good as Amare next year. With that said, it'd be nice to get a player like Outlaw also (We'll keep dreaming). I see no reason why this would hurt us though.
You've to be kidding me. He's 28 - that should be the prime of his career. The guy shot .477 from the field last season and .397 for 3s. Kobe Bryant shot .467 and .351. I'm not trying to compare the two, but it's ridiculous to argue that Richardson is in decline.
if were going to talk about the rockets future and all, can we just leave tmac and yao out of the picture? if they come back, then great, it's an added bonus. but as far as most people are concerned, we are no longer building around them anymore.
