No because he picked up his player option and lost his no trade clause in the process. He actually did Dallas a favor by doing so.

5 years, 40 million? i'm glad the mavs signed him. That's an albatross of a contract.

good trade for the mavs, still doesn't push them into the top 3 in the west though imo

Orlando's getting a hefty trade exception out of all of this.

It'd be funny to see them turn around and use it to match Dallas' offer on Gortat, leaving them stuck with Erica Dampier again next year.

Marion makes the Mavericks marginally better THIS year, but he is not the player he used to be and his contract is long. Deals like this are going to get the Mavs in salary cap hell.

Marion does not play inside, you can only stack the perimeter so much

im not sure but isnt the new line up like this?

JKidd / Jose Juan Barea / Rodrigue Beaubois
Josh Howard / Jason Terry / Quinton Ross / Matt Carroll / Greg Buckner
    Shawn Marion / Shawne Williams
Nowitzki / Kris Humphries / Ryan Hollins / Nathan Jawai
    Gortat/Erick Dampier

theyre suddenly loaded at the 2 and 4 spots. they need to flip some of those players along with Dampier and get a cheaper C and a shooter that can play SG/SF.

Does anyone know or has heard, if Dallas plans to keep or waive Nathan Jawai?
If he becomes a free agent he might be worth looking at. He is 6'10 and only 22yrs old. Even though he still might be a project, he would be worth taking a chance on.

Howard, Ross, Carroll, and Bucker are swingmen. Marion, Williams, and Humphries play both forward positions. Hollins and Jawai are centers.

Like many NBA stars, Marion was successful because he had a great PG (Nash) when he was with Phoenix. After that his game suffered. Now that he is going to Dallas, he will have Kidd. IMO Marion will suddenly be a much better player -- again.

Come on, Morey, quite looking in the bargain basement and get us some young talent -- not old mediocrity.

Totally agree, Kidd will make Marion the player He was when He was with Phoenix. Its scary to think that He will join forces with Howard, Dirk and Terry.
