Rashard Lewis is not a PF and he plays PF. There r a lot of players in this league play out of position and ariza can play sg in adelman system with a lot of ball and player movement.
Wow you guys are seriously over valuing this crop of free agents... McCants was a backup on a very bad team. Wafer is Better/cheaper than most of the scrubs being mentioned. the only guys possibly better than wafer for a reasonable price are: •Marquis Daniels or Restricted Free Agents: •Marvin Williams •Jamario Moon •Josh Childress (If he returns from Greece) I really think its b/w daniels and wafer since restricted fa's are hard to get for cheap.
There are some positives in that highlight video. Living in Texas, I don't get to see too many Hawks games, so I don't what else MW can do, but I can only go off that video. MW appears to be a secondary player and not a primary player. A lot of scores on that film where him receiving the ball from penetration or passes. His offensive skillset is similar to Battier's, heck MW loves that corner 3 like Battier as well. MW showed more penetration and dribbling skill than Battier, which should be obvious since they are like 6 years apart in age. The Rockets need a main guy; a Roy/Kobe/D-Wade/T-Mac in his prime. They don't need Artest's of the world who are good players, but are ball stoppers. They need playmakers who can draw double-teams and still hit a high percentage or go to the FT line. It's my bet that D-Wade will be the Rockets primary option next offseason since he does those things, plus gives you steals, assists and blocks. With that said, MW is not an elite player in the NBA. His athleticism and youth are what is the most promising and whoever signs him to a contract is banking on him "getting it" real soon. Shooting at a 46% is pretty good, and 35/36% on his 3's is respectable. I compared him to Shane offensively, but it doesn't seem like he is Mr. Intangible like Shane. About 6 boards a game is decent at the 3, but if you play him at the 4, he will be a liability and at 6'9, 240 he has the size to where he shouldn't be a liability. Assists, steals and blocks are mediocre at best, whic shows he is not much of a playmaker, just a finisher by being set up. To his credit, he had his best season this past year, so maybe he is "getting it", but he was absolutely atrocious during the playoffs. Started 3 out of the 6 games and avg 16.2 mins, 5 ppg, while hitting 35% of his shots and 17% from 3. My guess is that Atlanta will do their best to retain him out of stubborness and hope. Stubborness in that better players were taken after him and Atl doesn't want to concede defeat; hope in that MW figures things out and begins to play upto his potential. If the Rox are pursuing MW, I could see the scenario where Ariza will play the SG, kind of like Doug Christie back in day under Adelman who was an intangibles guy and hit big shots when needed just like Ariza showed in this years playoffs. Battier if not given up in a trade, could start and MW comes off the bench to provide more of an offensive spark. Like many have suggested though, if we could get MW for the midlevel, he'd be an ideal contract to dangle down the road. He will still have a lot of interest around the league from being a former #2 pick.
So anyone heard of Thomas Gardner or Mario West? Wafer might be the cheap fix at SG. Hopefully Jermaine Taylor comes to play at summer league and makes the decision easier.
How about Wafer for 3 years 8 million. then trade battier for Marvin Williams SnT. Brooks, Lowry Ariza, Wafer, Taylor Williams, White, Budinger Landry, Dorsey Scola, Hayes
Um, I hope you realize that Williams came back from a back injury about a week before the playoffs began and then later hurt his wrist and missed a whole bunch of games in the post season. He wasn't atrocious, he was hurting.
Rashard Lewis is able to play PF. Ariza is a forward hes not a guard. Its amazing how many people here are thinking hes going to play SG for us.
Its not that I think Von shouldn't be with the Rockets, his youth and possible upside should warrant a contract, its just the money. Somewhere around 2 years at about 2 mil seems about right with maybe a team option for a third yr. That way even if he flops next year he'll still have value as an expiring contract in the near future.
I cant say I know anything about Mccants. Who cares about the Twolves. Im not interested in any of the names you mentioned. Im all for bringing back Wafer. Look at my username. Shouldve been done a long time ago.
http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Itrsquos_Official_Trevor_Ar-318539-34.html Of the free agents available I think these players fit best to what Morey describes: Hakim Warrick Jarrett Jack CJ Watson Rob Kurz Linas Kleiza Raymond Felton Ronnie Price Paul Millsap Channing Frye Solomon Jones Marvin Williams
CJ Watson would be great, I think he can play a little PG too... Is Golden State planning to resign him?
Von Wafer is not all that great your acting like he is the next D-Wade. Plus we have Taylor for insurance also Taylor has more upside then wafer
