Stackhouse will be bought out...with the money that Dallas will give Memphis

This loop hole needs to be fixed. The moratorium should be 1 full year for players to be eligible to sign back with a team that just traded him

 

It sounds like there are two different versions of this deal that are being talked about, one involving the Magic, Raptors, and Mavericks sending Turkoglu s&t to Toronto, Marion s&t to Dallas, and cash and a second round pick (or something) to Orlando. The other version seems to be involving the Raptors, Grizzlies, and Mavericks, where Toronto gets cash and a pick, Memphis gets cash and Stackhouse who has a partially guaranteed contract, and Dallas gets Marion.

That's bull**** how Stackhouse is probably going right back to Dallas.

The Toronto Raptors and Dallas Mavericks agreed in principle Wednesday night to a complicated three team sign-and-trade including the Memphis Grizzlies that will land Shawn Marion in Dallas, two sources close to the process told ESPN.com.

The Dallas Mavericks have reached agreement to acquire Shawn Marion(notes) in a sign-and-trade deal with the Toronto Raptors, league sources said Wednesday.

The Mavericks and Raptors recruited the Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies to help facilitate the deal. The Raptors will get Hedo Turkoglu in a sign-and-trade deal with the Magic rather than signing him outright. They also will receive forwards Devean George and Antoine Wright from the Mavericks.

Marion will receive a five-year, $40 million contract from the Mavericks.

Stackhouse will go to the Grizzlies, who will waive him. Only $2 million of Stackhouse’s $7 million contract for next season is guaranteed. The Grizzlies will receive cash, likely $3 million, to participate in the trade.

Toronto, which gets to keep its midlevel salary-cap exception, sends a trade exception to Orlando. The Mavericks also will receive forward Kris Humphries from the Raptors.

The Dallas Morning News first reported the Mavericks were nearing a deal for Marion, describing the trade as “on the lip of the cup.”

Morey needs to start making his player contracts with these small guaranteed money in the last year. Cuban and RC do it and it lands them great treat contracts for struggling franchises. 8 mil contract with only 2 mil. guaranteed? Morey start doing this.

 

As Much as I hate the Mavs, god dam there GM is so smart, they give you crap while they get the goods, Btw I hate the Grizzles, I swear, them and the Timberwolves make the wierdest moves, Drafting 3 point guards!??? Who the hell runs the Timberwolves.

 

Kudos to Toronto for preserving that MLE. They might actually turn that thing around if they can get a decent coaching job out there.
