He's more like a souped-up landry. Better defense, rebounding, more durable. I don't see how we would be able to sign him but I would love him on the team.

This is certainly an unexpected news. Thanks NBA.

You take Von every time. Gerald Green has proven he is not an NBA caliber player yet... If you sign him you are betting he will improve.

With Von you already know you are getting a Super athletic 2 guard that can step in, start and make a positive impact.

    Green. Wafer would be BYC.

    Brooks, Lowry
    Ariza, Taylor, McGrady, White
    Battier, Barry, Budinger, Cook
    Scola, Landry
    Hayes, Dorsey, Yao

The Rockets don't need another SG/SF. They need a starting C or backup vet point.

    Ariza is more of a 3 than a 2
Taylor is a rookie 2nd round pick
McGrady is hurt for at least the first half of the season
White has not been able to Crack the NBA for how many seasons?

You are really confident in that group handling the shooting guard duties for this team? Not me.

I like Ariza and think he is a great pick up but Wafer has outstanding as a starter for the Rockets last year. He is a proven scorer and plays a position of need.

Positions of need are Center first and Shooting Guard second. Morey has already said he is going to aquire a Center via a trade so he needs a proven shooting guard via free agency.

Wafer is high value at 3 million or less and he is extreamly young so he will only get better. Sign the guy for at least 3 years.

What he did was not screw it up. What he did is use every available option with the limited number of cards he has. What he did is not panic and make a stupid Baron Davis type trade. What he did was not move McGrady for nothing, despite some of the ridiculous overactions by people on this board. What he did was recogonize how valuable Battier is despite his limited offense.

When you see some of the stuff like Isiah in NY, Kerr in Phoenix, Pritchard with Miles, whoever the Grizzlies GM is, I don't see how you can't absolutely love what Morey does for this team.

What's it matter if Wafer is BYC? Unless you plan on immediately trading him, that has to be one of the least important considerations when signing somebody, especially at these salary ranges.

It all comes down to who can actually perform at the NBA level. Wafer has proven that he can be a rotation guy in the league. Green has not been able to get off the bench the last two years and might very well have to rebuild his career in the D-league or Europe.

GMs in the NBA screw up all the time.

Its nice to have one that doesn't.

That's fair crash. I'm just saying that von will cost 3m and green minimum. Green has shown he's a nba caliber player and I think he was in a situation in housston, that it was almost impossible. In dallas he did ok when they had injuries. I would like to see how a green/ariza combo would work. We will see though. Maybe white is the guy for all we know.

thats what i am thinking. i mean, morey seems like a competant GM but i think some on this board is giving him wayyy too much credit. until he starts robbing other teams of players and building us up to be perennial contenders, i can't crowd the guy godfather anything...

    If we can use a little of the MLE to sign Von, maybe he can work on his defense skills with Shane, and maybe with Ron gone, his temper won't come out at innapproiate times { playoff games}

Sad thing is that there still not even that close to the Lakers, Blazers or Spurs in the West.

He's also got to learn how to play with teammates. It's as if he only passes to the rim
