Is it just me or is Morey making the effort to make this off-season fun for Rocket fans. When he was getting Gortat, he encouraged us write e-mails to Gortat in trying to recruit... making it so that we play a partial role in getting players. Now Morey announces that he's after another free agent, only he doesn't reveal his name. Now the suspense builds up for Rocket fans for the next one or two weeks while we guess who it might be.

Not many good choices out there so please let it be Marvin Williams, please let it be Marvin Williams, please let it be Marvin Williams. Dont see anyone on this list that I would want more than Williams.

If we cant get MW then screw it go after AI for a one year rental and see how he works out and maybe after we get our big splash (hopefully Bosh) we can resign him as a scorer of the bench at a resonable contract. I would rather have him at 5 mill than Wafer even at this stage of his career.

I have bolded the best free agent forwards. It's time to bring back the White Boy Power Squad. Morey should resign O.G. Bowen and O.G. Novak. :D

If this is a major signing, by which I mean a full MLE deal, then it probably indicates that Morey no longer care about getting a max player next year due to the huge cap shrinkage. It would also mean we're not rebuilding, but actually trying to at least try for .500 ball.

Regardless, IMO this team BADLY BADLY needs a star. We have whole bunch of good players who can be pieces to a contender, but not the main piece. And history have continously shown that it doesn't work. Heck, the old Memphis teams had Pau Gasol and awesome role players, and couldn't even win a single playoff game.

Yes. Because we consistently see superstars emerging from the 20+ picks of any draft while while high picks never pan out. It's not like there's any difference between CP3 and Aaron Brooks anyway.

ill take lafrentz, channing frye, jamario moon, walter hermann, mikki moore, johan petro or drew gooden if any of them would accept minimum or part of the mle.

id throw the entire MLE for odom only he would probably want 10m.

i wonder if lakers would bite at a dorsey + cook + barry for mbenga + morrison?

I'd be interested to see if we pursue any of the following:

    Robert Swift
    Chris Wilcox
    Rasho Nesterovic
    Channing Frye
    Drew Gooden

Watch out on Odom, not that we will sign him, he is running out of options as the Blazers are going after Millsap. If he wants 10 mill it may be with the Lakers but there over the LT so that may not even happen now. I would offer him the MLE and see what happens.

    Odom
    Scola
    Battier
    Ariza
    Brooks

I've been thinking this too. Our best bet is probably some kind of deal where we take Gasol along with Jaric and Buckner (and their horrible contracts). I could see them being interested in bringing Battier back, maybe something like Battier, Dorsey, and a pick for Gasol, Jaric and Buckner.

I think they need backcourt help more than a Battier-type though. They really don't have much behind Mayo and Conley, and Conley's not much to begin with. So I'd see if we could send Tmac and filler (picks and/or players not named Landry, Brooks, Lowry) to Phoenix for Richardson and Barbosa, then send Barbosa and Dorsey to Memphis for Gasol, Jaric, and Buckner. I actually like that trade even better. Just find a way to add Marvin Williams and bring back Von, and we're in business.

    Gasol/Hayes
    Scola/Landry
    Ariza/MWilliams
    JRich/Wafer
    Brooks/Lowry

Sign Ronnie Price for the minimum as our third string point guard because he went to my high school in Friendswood. :D

Put me on board on trying to sign Marvin Williams! He fits our youth movement. He's young, athletic, and his breakout season will soon come. I know everyone wants a center, but the pickings are slim, and the thing to do is get the best available talent and have bargaining chips for the future. Don't forget the lack of tradeable assets we had before Morey took the helm. We'll be able to run and gun but with some defense, unless we face a tough frontline, but hey we're building for the future so who cares. Our team still has heart and will be filled with hard workers and hustlers, just like Yao when he comes back. I wish Amare would have the same hustle, but he seems to think too much of himself and not the team.
