Looking ahead to 2010, if Yao decides to opt out, it would be time to feast

How Yao is traded will decide Rockets future.

    It is all on Morey.

Orlando signed Grant Hill and T-mac in the same summer. Too bad Grant's health immediately took a nosedive and never lived up to the potential.

If Yao's injury is bad, maybe Yao will opt out, take a paycut and have a final shot at winning the championship before retiring

Put me down for Brad Miller and Mike Miller.

We might just be able to get them both for just under the max if Morey does well.

TJ Ford also has a player option, so he could opt out.

And if we're lucky, Josh McRoberts ought to be available.

PS: Rip Hamilton has about 5 years left on his contract.

Scrubs. You wait till 2010 for those scrubs?

    I say Wade + Paul or Wade + Amare.[/QUOTE]

Any two of Wade/Paul/Amare would be a dream. I'll take one of them, though. Not sure which. I guess it just depends on how Amare comes back and plays next season, but I'd still lean to Paul/Wade before Amare, I think.

I want to see 'em next season first!

chris bosh for sure, im sure we can put a little texas charm on him. ;)

and hopefully a decent Sg and a mle Center.

    Joe Johnson
    or
    Manu Ginobli

we dont really need cp3 as bad as we need a sg or a center if yao leaves.
so try to stay away from pg's

Well, the Rockets can avoid any under the table agreement if they just give Yao more years. Say, 4 yr/40 million. This isn't unheard of, as Shaq took a huge pay cut when he signed with Miami for 5 years/100 mil(back when he made 30 mil a season).

It's pretty obvious Yao will NOT be playing that long, given his body's situation. And the Rockets legitimately free up tons of space for next year's cap.

Otherwise, I agree with the rest that there's ZERO chance of Yao opting out. He's loyal, but he's not stupid.

Extremely pointless thread because Yao will not opt out.

and where is yao gonna go after an entire season of sitting on the bench? even if he ops out for some strange reason, this helps the rockets because they don't have to rely on him being healthy.

Probably not, but if anyone would, it would be Yao. He wants a championship, he has to realize that his salary comes into play into that equation, and according to the following article, he isn't hurting for money.

    http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/beij...ese-stars-like-liu-xiang-earn-from-sport.aspx

Considering that this free agent class is a monster, this may be his greatest chance to earn the championship with one or two major stars. His taking less money may work out for what he wants in the end.

I only way he will opt out is if he get a long term deal for less money aroud 8-10 million a year. i think yao will do it for the team since he a lot of money elsewhere

You SIR, has just made this ridiculous thread into something more interesting and worthwhile.

Can someone with knowledge about the Joe Smith incident shed more light on how this Scenario proposed by m_cable is illegal?

    Thanks!
