The way it's written leaves some confusion. When they say "this afternoon" did they mean that they learned the info that afternoon or that Yao will announce that afternoon?

I cant grasp the thought of watching a lotto team with no superstars. Oh wait, theyre injured. It hurts but I should make it through the season. Keyword: should ;)

Man i really feel sorry for the rockets, this team never had a BREAK when it comes to injuries :( I respect them so much i want them to be competitive and healthy, they sure have been very competitve but not healthy all those years, its really hard to build chemisty when you get hit like that, But I guess after this news (which isn`t shocking) the Rockets Orginasation need to start looking for the future and realise that it`s time to look ahead, that doesnt mean the rockets wont compete becuz as they have proven last season and before that they always play on a very HIGH level even when they get hit with such injuries, this injury benifits houston in 1 thing, now they will be much more consentrated on the task at hand, since they know Yao won`t be there this year, so its easier to focus and play on a high level and I do really think the Rockets will be fine and compete as they always do ,, best of luck

Remember what happened in SA when Robinson got hurt? It's a long shot but if we do land John Wall next year then we can make a quick return to the top.

So,I didn't catch any news that includes Yao's announcement of his decision to take surgery on his left foot.

Confusion spreads out and haunting my head right now.

Aim low. Playoffs first. This team is built to compete and a playoff spot is not far fetched. Do not be to quick in saying lottery bound.

I have a question: Does this mean Yao's salary would be paid by insurance just like Mcgrady's?

If it is then Les is paying way less money than he would anticipate. He could swallow a luxury tax dip. Man next year is gonna be weird.

    Nothing official yet I think.

If Yao does have surgery - we need to get some Admantium into his bones ... Wolverine style. :)

My Yao injury denial is at it's peak right now. Normally, i'd be screaming and acting like a complete lunatic. It kind of goes without saying that being a Houston Rockets fan leaves you numb to a lot of things.

Did you guys really think he was going to come back this season. They have to make all thier moves around him this and next offseason, hope he comes back 100 percent and try to contend in 2010-2011. lets go get chris bosh, rudy fernandez, etc...

    Now we are talking.

Keep getting young studs and by 2010 all these old fart teams will be ready to wither away...

After this surgery, Yao will never be an Allstar status type of player. He will be washed up. This sucks but it is the truth. For Yao to have a season ending surgery will basically destroy his career.
