No more of this inserting pins nonsense. Give Yao whatever Grant Hill had done. Or Big Z. Let him come back strong 2010 with Ariza and whoever big name we sign

Can't say I didn't see this coming. It's better he chose this route instead of risk it not healing properly. Now the Rockets can move forward with the season. Go after Zaza and then see what we can get for Battier if we really are retooling.

Ok, now that's it's sunk in a little and I've gotten over the shock, I believe I speak for most people here when I say that I'm glad something positive is finally going to happen for Yao, and that I hope he gets well, not for our sake, or the Rockets, but for himself. Yao's a good guy and deserves a couple more healthy years.
It's a tough call I guess,if he comes back as ole Mac and in time could Morey find a replacement for Yao,that'd be a great fit as Yao's indefinite absence for the upcoming season. Ole Mac could possibly carry the whole offensive load on his shoulder, not to mention we still have Scola,Landry,Aaron Brooks on the team, still got whole lot of options down the stretch.
why is the article from friday july 3rd? Sources: Yao Ming To Announce Season-Ending Surgery POSTED: Friday, July 3, 2009 HOUSTON -- Sources close to Rockets center Yao Ming tell Local 2 this afternoon he will announce he is having major surgery on his left foot in the next few days, and that the procedure will keep him out of the upcoming Rockets season. Yao has been sidelined since May 8 when it was discovered he suffered a hairline fracture in the top of the foot following a playoff game against the Lakers. He has missed parts of the previous three seasons due to foot or leg injuries.
I guess we will be seeing more of this..... <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Jp-GPSNiy34&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Jp-GPSNiy34&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/29YWyZ1rZoo&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/29YWyZ1rZoo&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Old Mac had one of the best defensive teams in the league under Jeff, and he couldn't get out of the first round. He even had Yao. I just see this year as a complete wash; we can't compete with SA or LA. We would have serious trouble matching the offensive production of even the Nuggets and TrailBlazers with just Old Mac. If he plays like what he's worth we also have another problem, the issue of should we resign him. Lose Lose situation
Is this news? Of course it's news but it isnt all that shocking. It wasnt a matter of if he'll get the surgery done but when will he get it done. Now we know. Here is to a successful surgery and successful rehab! And here is for no more surgery after this during your NBA career. Hope to see you back in a year, healthy then and healthy forever.
Just one disappointment after another. The word "Loser" often comes to mind when you follow the rockets.
