If you want to see how it ends, just watch The Fly (1986)

Trig thanks you for defending his honor against me and the rest of the jackals on the board, in the media and in the electorate.

Why must we be so mean to TRIG?!?!

Going against my better judgment in needlessly depleting my self-imposed quota of 3 posts/month in this sub-forum, I feel the need to interject and point out that this was an incredibly mean thing to say to someone, especially over the internet.

I agree. Virtual head shaking to be had when reading his OPs, but he's definitely a cat I'd like to meet in person.

Okay, quick question to Basso: just what the heck does she do for the benefit of the Republican Party? Sure, she energizes the base for some reason, but there are limits to which you can do this without making the rest of America view the party as psychotic idiots. The Republican Party today is perceived as the domain of nuts and conspiracy theorists, which is in no small part due to her and McCain's ridiculous campaign and the massive overreaction to Obama's victory. To retrench again and again and play these stupid teabagging junk and whining about socialism and such is not productive and is not going to get the GOP and by extension the country anywhere. If we're going to do anything against Obama and prevent him from carrying out a good chunk of his policies, the GOP just needs to drop her as kindly as possible and just hope she goes away without a major scandal and quit with this stupid populist BS we've been playing that started with the McCain campaign and hasn't stopped.

I'm tossing some salad your way for seeing what I see in basso... an enigmatic person who, despite countless bizarre, idiotic, maddening threads started and posts made, still strikes me as a person of intelligence and intellect, which makes him all the more frustrating. Go figure. I'm sure we are both wrong.

I do not think that phrase means what you think it means.

On topic, I think Sarah Palin was too much of a literalist when she first heard the phrase, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going."

I don't think liberals hate kids with Down syndrome. In fact, i don't think ANYONE does.

You are so weird. Don't you realize that half of your own beloved Republican party doesn't like Sarah Palin?

Republican leadership doesn't like her. Ed Rollins called her a kook. McCain stays away from her. When your own party cringes each time you speak, that's not a good sign B-man.

Not a good sign. Is this the candidate of Basso, TJ, and Big Tex?

If anyone who doesn't like Palin is a lib-pig, then 70% of the country are a bunch of libpigs.

It means what I think it means in the context in which I used it, which is sending him/her some green. Want to argue about it? I'm aghast!!!

    ^^^

Or, just as easily, I do not know what that phrase means. Forgive me, Deckard: my generation was reared on 2 Girls 1 Cup videos. Meant that only in jest, I assure you.

Lay off Deck! We don't need to know what he does in his personal time. I mean, who doesn't like to toss some salad.

Then how does a literalist get away with saying (in essence): I'm not a quitter even though I just quit. In fact, I PROVE I'm NOT a quitter BY my quitting. Maybe it's another instance of where Palin is talking "straight to the American people" and anyone who disagrees with her just doesn't count.

Based on his post about the left-wing of the Dem party, maybe basso needs to write a book on psychotherapy, which I say in this instance literally means turning yourself into a psycho using self-therapy. Meltdown doesn't begin to describe it. I guess the pinups of Sarah Palin stay on the wall, as will the dartboard of Obama.

basso, be very careful when calling others base, nasty and vile when these very things gush from your posts. I hope you can climb out of it (or get someone to pull you out). Sounds like you're in pretty deep. Falsely accusing someone here of making fun of Trig Palin is low down. Sarah Palin is the one who's used him as a prop to gain sympathy.

I'm not trying to make an attack here, I just want an explanation of this POV. If Palin is leaving the post that she campaigned for and was chosen for by the people of Alaska, then why would leaving it a year early be a good thing? Isn't this resignation seen as a bad thing?

In this regard, basso isn't that far off from his idol.

    From Palin's resignation :
[rquoter]In fact, this decision comes after much consideration, and finally polling the most important people in my life - my children (where the count was unanimous... well, in response to asking: "Want me to make a positive difference and fight for ALL our children's future from OUTSIDE the Governor's office?" It was four "yes's" and one "hell yeah!" The "hell yeah" sealed it - and someday I'll talk about the details of that... I think much of it had to do with the kids seeing their baby brother Trig mocked by some pretty mean-spirited adults recently.) Um, by the way, sure wish folks could ever, ever understand that we ALL could learn so much from someone like Trig - I know he needs me, but I need him even more... what a child can offer to set priorities RIGHT - that time is precious... the world needs more "Trigs", not fewer.[/rquoter]

Only, no one in any kind of mainstream outlet has ever mocked Palin's youngest child. It's a ridiculous assertion, baseless. To criticize Palin (herself) for using the nonexistent mocking of her infant as one of the only explanations proffered for her resignation is NOT to criticize the kid; it's directed toward Palin. This is not difficult.

Palin has been mocked for so many of her own myriad shortcomings. She responds, in large part, "Stop making fun of my baby!" Huh?

I show up drunk to work all the time; even when sober, I mail it in, and harass my coworkers every chance I get. When my boss calls me to his office for a chat, I don't get to say, "You're firing me because I'm white, aren't you?"

Also, pollsters will tell Palin that the 100% family feedback she received might not be entirely reliable, as the word choice involved,
was possibly tinged with just a hint of questioner bias. It's good to know you don't have to be the governor of an oil-rich state in order to save, single-handedly, all the children of the world. I also am not a governor; I think I'm going to get started on that one tomorrow after lunch.

Palin is apparently going to be indicted on federal charges, stemming from a quid pro quo scam with the contractor who built the Wasilla Sports Complex that has nearly bankrupted that town. The contractor paid her for a TV commercial and sponsored her husband's racing team, so then she gave them the $13 million contract to build the sports complex, so then they gave her the materials needed to build her 5,000sqft house, so then after she got elected Governor, she funneled state money to them. She resigned because pretty soon, she would have been Impeached.

So, this is the face of the Republican Party? You betcha! lol
