Not that I'm into rap like I used to be, but just curious to see who people think is the best rapper.

    I go with Snoop.

Tupac by a landslide IMHO. Best lyricist of all-time and showed depth to his rap. Rap died when he did as far as I'm concerned. NWA best group of all-time, also not very close. People growing up on Eminem just don't know.

    i gotta go with 2pac...

he could go from touching songs like "Dear Mama", "Can You Get Away", and "Keep Ya Head Up" to party jams like "How Do U Want It", "Ain't Nothin' But a Gangsta Party", and "It's All About You"

my point is that he didn't merely rap about women, cars, and money all the time, but he did do his fair share of it...

i have to go with 2pac. he's one of the few rappers i listen to, and imo by far the best. his voice was classic and his lyrics had some meaning.

Rakim is the master- I don't want to say anyone is the best because so many tear it up- he's definite top 10
some more that come to mind: Buckshot from Blackmoon, Talib Kwali & Mos Def, all of Jurassic 5, Guru, all of NWA the 1st supergroup of Rap, Big boi & Andre from Outkast, and DMX (I'm stopping here cause this could go on and on).
Oh ya my friends and have joked about this for years- would it not be bad as$ if during Rockets games when they made a big run or a big play forcing a timeout - out of the loudspeakers comes "My mind is playing tricks on me" from H-towns own Geto Boys. :D

2pac stank. His beats was sorry.

As of now, even though he's every wannabe thug white kid's hero, Eminem blows everybody the fvck out of the water. I used to hate on Em, but he is always clever, doesnt talk much 'bout blang blang and hoes. Just talks about killin' b****es and politicians. His new album got some sorry beats too, but he's a fcking sick, sick man, he's the best today, a case could easily be built for best of all time.

Biggie still got my vote for the king though.

Nas is NOT better than Jay-Z right now, but he used to be, and could be again. Both these guys are better than Pac, 'cept if Pac was alive today he'd kill both of 'em. ;)

I have to admit though, I like pop **** too, Ludacris is off the chain. Nelly sucks though y'all, he talks lotsa mess, but to nobody in particular. These two are also fellas that Pac would make dead if he was living. :)

I wanna hear Kobe rap. Can't be as bad as Shaq huh?

Whoa, when I talk about rap music I talk like I'm black

i like some rap songs but seriously, i can't see the difference in lyrics from one rapper to another.
its all like a matter of speed to me. slow fast rapid.
if you show me lyrics by jayz and nas side by side i couldn't tell which wrote which.

maybe i can redcognize eminem, his lyrics a bit different.

How bout Ralph Stanley? That mans on Jay Leno right now, damn he's ill. :D I personally chose Tupac for many of the same reasons the people above me chose him. He may not have had good beats, but he definately gave you everything from a real point of view, with no fluff. He also could flow and make it a story unlike most of the rappers today who jump from one topic to another. Although, nowadays, Pop-Rap is getting to me. I like Nelly, and he does have a rival now, he has a war of words with KRS-One. He dissed him on the Roc The Mic Remix as a result of being dissed on KRS' The Real Hip-Hop Diss. Ludacris is my favorite right now though because that man is awesome. He just makes everything sound so good and crisp. One of my favorite lines is "I'm frosty like a flake and Ludacris feels greeeeeeaaat" I think Nas is better than Jay-Z though.

No. its worse. You should look up his song K.O.B.E. with Tyra Banks...good god...talk about bad.

    "What I live for?
    Basketball, beats,and broads.
    From Italy to the US
    Yes its raw..."
    -Kobe

C-Webb has a album (or maybe just a few singles) too. Just as bad. Though its nowhere near as bad as Cedric Ceballos' foray into hip hop. They should come up with some kind government bureau to make sure that **** never happens again.

I have to say for best rapper, probably Pac, though I really like Nas and think he had a chance before he became commercial. Looks like he's getting back to the roots now.

Best freestyler though? Cannibus, hands down. Nobody, I mean NOBODY can get with this man. He has a gift from god.
