Wow. If that's on the level (who the hell knows?), it doesn't sound like he's dismissing the Rockets offer. Not sure what it means. You could take it two or three ways.
I wouldn't say "any". There have been many things that have come out from Twitter that have been accurate.
if he can't even get a verified account it might just mean they don't know who Von Wafer is. Real GM doesn't even have him on their list of FA link
I didn't care much for Von's courtside playoff antics, but the rockets should have done better than the minimum, don't you think?
http://twitter.com/help/verified It's a way of verifying which are the real twitters of people in the public eye.
It would be funny if Von went somewhere else for the same kind of money that we offered him. If so, maybe he's adopted Ron's new-found principle of "It's not about how much they paid, it's about how much they were able to pay". Will be interesting to see what happens.
i would only sign him for the athletic ability... but i just want to keep him...he added that explosive dimension to this team... please stay von...we're what made you who you are...
You're right, Von found his way here, it seems. He found his place as a hustle player. I will miss the explosiveness...
I'd really like to avoid any Von-bashing. How soon we forget the key contributions from a training camp longshot due to a sub-par playoff series. I loved what he brought to the team this year and don't think we would have been where we were without him. There was no way Brent Barry was gonna provide the spark Von ended up providing in T-Mac;s absence. He provided the Rockets with clutch play starting & off-the-bench, hitting big 3s and driving with authority. He definitely has to improve on his defense and all-around-game, but I was hoping he could eventually grow into a starting 2 gaurd here. I don't think he's out-of-line for wanting a multi-year deal for more than the minimum, nor do I think the Rockets are out-of-line for going in a different direction. If Adelman doesn't like Von or Morey thinks he can be replaced with Taylor or Budinger, that's fine. But, let's not forget what Von provided this year or hate on him for wanting some long-term security after finally making it in the NBA. If he's not able to come back to the Rockets, then I wish him the best.
Until DD returns, you can be his official substitute! I agree, no bashing on the young kid just because he wants more money. He's young, allowed to be dumb for a while. I don't like the incident that happened during the playoffs, but he's young, hopefully he won't do it again wherever he goes. His contributions to this team were definitely needed and I'm not sure we'd have gotten where we did without him. He was a spark, pretty consistent when he got decent minutes, played pretty well as a starter, and had good energy off the bench.
I'm not sure if Von can get any more playing time somewhere else. Didn't he mention some time ago that he wanted a bigger role, and at least as much playing time as he got this year? I guess he felt he proved himself this past season and doesn't want to go back to being a benchwarmer. I'd say with this lottery team that we're building here that he'll get as much playing time here as anywhere. And that might persuade him to come back despite being underpaid.
Exactly! I honestly cannot believe Wafer's agent is saying this stuff with a straight face! He knows his client just completed a one-year deal and that the Rockets can only re-sign him using a portion of the MLE or the league minimum. He also knows that the entire MLE is gone now with the signing of Ariza. It is literally IMPOSSIBLE for the Rockets to offer him anything other than the minimum, yet this guy is talking about being "disappointed" that the Rockets have not made any offers to Von AND that Wafer wouldn't accept the minimum. What does he expect the Rockets to do? Like I've said before, if he can't find a decent-sized deal elsewhere, Von may want to re-sign with the Rockets on a two-year minimum contract (with the second year being a player option) and take his chances in free agency next summer when (A) more teams will have cap room and (B) the Rockets will have Early Bird rights on Von and can re-sign him up to the MLE amount.
