Trade Battier and Cook for Tyson Chandler Trade TMac for Prince and Hamilton Chandler / Dorsey Scola / Landry / Hayes Prince / Ariza Hamilton / Rookie Brooks / Lowry Next year trade Scola, Chandler and whoever else Toronto wants for Bosh.
This will sound crazy. Please read the whole thing before making a snap judgment... Trade: T-Mac, Brooks, Scola, Yao Ming for Paul, Posey, Peja, Chandler, Butler, Armstrong. or Trade: T-Mac, Brooks, Battier, Yao Ming for Paul, Posey, Peja, Chandler, Daniels, Armstrong. The salaries work for both versions players group up to where they are within 125% of each other. New Orleans would do it because. They get out of 3 horrible contracts to Peja, Chandler & Posey. They do not have to pay Luxury tax next year. They get young player in Brooks. They get a choice of Scola, but since they have West they may prefer the steady Battier glue player. Everyone always talks about the money issues the Hornets have, well even if Yao does not come back at at a top 3 center level (which I don't think he will), he will still have the Name recognition, get All-star nods due to fan voting, and bring in money and such due the Chinese backing. Plus David West is could be a perfect PF for Yao. Rockets do this to get Paul. That is the single reason for this trade. Why? If you keep looking at most Championship teams, they have at least 1 superstar player or a very good star player who is playing like a superstar that year or postseason. Yes there are exceptions (like Detroit) but very few. There are only a few of those superstars in the league right now who are young. Three for sure bets I believe are Lebron, Wade, & Paul. (and we won't be able to sign Lebron or Wade) I believe Howard will get there. It also seems that Durant and Rose may get there in time. I don't not believe the stars that we keep hearing in rumors like Bosh or Amare and other players like Joe Johnson can be centerpieces of a Championship team. For that reason, I think giving up on 2010, being semi-decent 2011 with a good trade, and trying to for it all in 2012. We will be mediocre in 2010, no doubt. We would also pay likely about $5-6 million in Lux tax next year unless we can trade Barry and/or Cook to ease that hit. In the Summer of Lebron, we could get a good lottery pick, and try to get a smaller name player with the MLE while everyone else is angling for the big name players. Then that 2010-11 season, we have two 10 million dollar expiring contracts, and there could definitely be a number of teams unhappy with a player they signed this off-season or even in that previous summer, or we go after players like Josh Smith, Kevin Martin, Gerald Wallace among others on teams that have change coaches/GM's or what not. That would be at least 1.5 yrs before Paul's ETO option in the Summer of 2012, and since so many teams will have spent huge money in 2010, few if any will be able to really offer more than us for Paul in 2012. It would be a work in progress, yes, but could work. It is high risk, but sometimes to risk a lot to get a high reward--a true superstar player to replace our 2. Our team next year would be... Paul/Lowry/Barry Battier/Butler/Taylor/Posey Ariza/Buddinger//Peja Landry/Hayes/Armstrong Chandler/Dorsey or Paul/Lowry/Daniels Butler/Taylor/Posey Ariza/Buddinger//Peja Scola/Landry/Hayes/Armstrong Chandler/Dorsey
Brooks and Battier for Josh Smith. Would keeps on the course to super-athleticism. I love both Brooks and Battier, but need to get up at approx $10M to make the deal, and Atlanta might want a real piece in the trade, and might need a PG w/ Bibby being a FA. Otherwise maybe Battier + Lowery. Josh Smith would bring the shot-blocking we need both if Yao is in or out. The guy is a freak. A bit in love with some parts of his offensive game that are weak (3pt shot), but imagine Smith, Ariza, Scola on the break... serious.
One can only dream if we somehow got Al Thorton, and put him at the 2.......and ZaZa Brooks/Lowry Thorton/Ariza/White Ariza/Battier/Budinger Scola/Landry ZaZa/Dorsey/Hayes
Try to trade Scola at the deadline for an expiring (to match the one we are giving up) plus a first round draft pick. Remember, Luis is a free agent next Summer and the odds of Houston re-signing him are pretty slim, since they are saving their cap space for an elite level player like Bosh. Other than that, just tank for the 2010 lottery.
Battier for Outlaw and Fernandez T-Mac to Toronto for Bosh or T-Mac, Budinger, and Barry to Phoenix for Amare and Barbosa
The only question is would kerr be stupid enough to pull the trigger on that deal....Best scenario right here
OK check this out by doing a three team trade with Portland and LA Clippers we may have our big move! Battier/Budinger or Taylor(maybe both) to Portland Outlaw/Cook to Clippers Camby/Fernandez to Rockets Portland gets a lock down defender and before everyone says they dont need one remember Battier is the glue guy every Championship team needs and they have always liked Battier anyway along with rookies that could help them down the road. Clippers get a young guy who I honestly would love to have on the Rox but to make things work I would send him to the Clips along with an expiring contract. Finally the Rox get the center they need desperatly and Fernandez to slide into the SG position. We still have TMAC's contract to use to continue revamping the team and Yao's return late this season or next. Camby/Hayes/Dorsey Scola/Landry Ariza/White Fernandez/Barry/TMAC or whatever we get in return Brooks/Lowry I know its complicated but hey worth a shot I think!
If Golden State wants Amare so bad, lets get him for THEM and take Biedrins, Wright and Belinelli. We become one of the youngest if not the youngest team in the leauge. Biedrins age 22 Brooks age 24 Lowry age 22 Ariza age 24 Belinelli age 22 Wright age 21 Landry age 25 Dorsey age 25 Hayes age 25 White age 26 Not to mention Budinger and Taylor. Battier, Scola, T-mac, and Yao need to go for the youth movement. I know it's not possibe, but as far as I'm concerned, trade them all for Amare and send Amare away to get the 3 Golden state players they are trying to unload. Our highest contract would then be Biedrins at 9m per. We should have capspace to go after a superstar when the time is right. We many develop one of our own. Also add to the lotto pick we should pick up in the next draft. If you want to rebuild, you have to realize Yao is done as a franchise player, HE may be needed to back up Biedrins, if not, see ya! This is what needs to be done to create a dynasty, let these guys grow together, see how they progress, make adjustments as needed, and add that stud FA to slide into our weakest position. In two or three years, we won't have the league calling about one player like now (T-mac) but seven or eight.
I hate trades involving 4 teams as they are extremely difficult to pull off. But this one could work! In reality, it is a 3-team trade with Indiana jumping in to dump some salaries. (For those of you who poo-poo it without reading it, it just goes to show a lack of intellectual development on your part.) Some of you may also note that this is a variation of previous post I submitted. PHI: Hamilton (DET) + Wallace (DET – S&T) + Lowry (HOU) + Tinsley (IND) DET: T-Mac (HOU) + J. Smith (PHI) + W. Green (PHI) + Dorsey (HOU) HOU: Iguodala (PHI) + Dalembert (PHI) + Ford (IND) IND: Brown (DET) + Cook (HOU) + Barry (HOU) + rights to Newley & Leunen (HOU) Why would Detroit do this trade: It is all about 2010 cap space. T-Mac comes off the books at the end of the year. Plus, Detroit has the option of signing a revitalized T-Mac if he discovers the fountain of youth. They are going to lose Wallace anyway, why not get something in return? Losing Hamilton hurts, but Gordon has been signed as his heir apparent. Moreover, it does free up more cap space in 2010. Detroit will have a core of Stuckey, Gordon, Villanueva, and Prince to add a mega-star (Chris Bosh?) to the mix. You could also just imagine the impact of T-Mac on that core if he comes back with a vengeance. Green is a Detroit native and can be an offensive spark off the bench. Jason Smith and Dorsey provide front-court depth without crimping the budget. Why would Indiana do this trade: Cut salary and get rid of Tinsley! They take back Kwame Brown’s salary, but they can cut him without too much of a detriment to their budget – if they choose. They lose Ford, but they were looking to extend Jack anyway and can do so with the savings from trading away Tinsley and Ford. Barry plays “the right way” and can back up at both guard spots. The rights to Newley and Leunen sweeten the pot for the Pacers. Houston can send $1 million in cash to allow the Pacers to buy out Cook’s contract (or they can keep him from front-court depth). Why would Philadelphia do this trade: Bringing back native sons and a chance to return to being a “Beast in the East” are strong motivators. True enough that Hamilton, Lowry, and Wallace are all from the Philly metro area. Moreover, they are all talented and former champs Hamilton and Wallace are possibly looking for a last career hurrah. The acquisition of the talented Tinsley would allow them to replace Andre Miller, who has his eyes on greener ($$$) pastures. Plus, they get to dump Dalembert’s contract. Yes, the loss of Iguadola would hurt. But it would be more than softened by acquiring Rip Hamilton and a hungry Rasheed Wallace. The team would have veteran starters supported by a young and talented bench. This would allow the Sixers to challenge for the Eastern Conference crown (with Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, and Orlando) while also preparing for the future. You don’t mean to tell me that Hamilton and Wallace playing for their Philly pride while Tinsley and Brand seek to redeem themselves wouldn’t be a team to be feared? I don’t think you can. Why would Houston do this trade: The Rox need to remain competitive, but alter their philosophy. No Yao means no inside-outside game. A more up-tempo and gambling defense supported by shotblockers would be the goal. Iguodala is more at home with a fast-paced style. He would be the superstar on the precipice that Morey is looking for. Would Philly catch heat for letting him get away? Possibly. But I believe Philly fans will be more excited by acquiring Hamilton and Wallace for a player that openly criticized team management at the end of the season. Ford is acquired because he can play at either a quick pace or a deliberative offensive set. Not to mention that is an H-town native (Ft. Bend Willowridge). The acquisition of Ariza also allows the team to focus on being more up-tempo. Dalembert is a shotblocker extraordinaire (Mutombo II). Your starters would Brooks, Iguodala, Ariza, Landry, and Dalembert. Their goal would be to get the team up by 8 or 10 on the scoreboard. Your second unit would be Ford, Taylor / Budinger, Battier, Scola, and Sean Williams / Mihm. They would be charged with protecting the lead through solid execution. You could go with an all-offensive / catch-up squad (mix of Brooks, Iguodala, Ariza, Landry, Williams) or a solid defensive group (mix of Ford, Iguodala, Ariza, Battier, Scola, Dalembert, Williams). If you add Yao back into this group, the possibilities are endless with your half-court sets. Houston wouldn’t be a player in 2010 free agency, but come 2011 – watch out! I would also like to see a minor trade after this one to obtain Houston native F/C Sean Williams from NJ (acquired with a trade exemption) for the rights to G Sergio Llull and F Sergei Lishouck. NJ dumps a disappointing player. I think Williams would be revitalized in Houston and partner with Dalembert to become the “Block Brothers”. Plus signing two former Longhorns in A.J. Abrams and C/F Chris Mihm (MEM) as well as former Rice Owl G/F Morris Almond for depth would be a nice touch. (Yeah, I know Almond is leaning toward the Knicks.) HOU PG Brooks T.J. Ford Abrams SG Iguodala Taylor Almond SF Ariza Battier Budinger PF Scola Landry S. Williams C Yao * Dalembert Mihm PHI PG Tinsley Lowry Holiday SG Hamilton Williams SF Kapano K. My solution stand pact no trade moves. I still actually think this team can make the playoffs and we might get Yao back late in the season along with McGrady. The young players will improve and we can still make a run. I think we dont need to panic and add somthing to the roster we cant get rid of.

I love this trade more and more every time I reread it. It's absurd to the point of hilarity. At first glance it's hard for me to even tell who's getting ripped off, though I'm pretty it's Golden State. Then again, they seem like they'd love to shed Jackson and Maggette's contracts, especially if they were to bring in a max guy in Amare. Biedrins/Turiaf Maggette Ariza/S.Jackson J.Richardson Barbosa/Dragic Add Yao to that and we're in business (that would be our lineup btw if you haven't clicked the link).
