Perhaps we'll be like San Antonio when David Robinson went down and they ended up in the lottery and got Tim Duncan that one year
Where has the Rocket faith gone. If the Rockets can land Amare or Bosh for TMac the team can make the playoffs. I still believe Morey is not done dealing. Les and Morey are not going to make excuses and Les has shown he is willing to do anything to keep the team competitive. The Rockets will have the team ready to roll before the start of the season meaning I believe TMac will be dealt(thank God).
In Adelman's system? Absolutely. Especially with Ariza coming onboard. The Rockets have young talent that will continue to improve. They have playoff experience. They're not some over-the-hill gang making a last run. They need to take care of that center position problem, though.
Big 3?? I haven't seen that term applied to Houston since Artest was traded to us last year when it was plastered all over ESPN. By Feb 08, it was simply Yao Ming and the Rockets. I have much faith in our younger/faster team. We just need a solid backup center. After that, wait until 2010.
Big 3? What Big 3? Was there any trio last season? No! Will there be any this season? I don't know! But basketball games are won by a team not by a big three and if you think that Celtics or Lakers won their championships by big 3 and not by defense/offense you simply don't watch basketball. TMac was injured and Yao was in never great shape during the season. Ron Artest was mostly turnover prone. So I don't know if Rockets ever did something with big 3, they did it as a team even with one "star" injured. RonRon, Yao and TMac never quite worked on basketball court.
We still have big three Scola, Brooks and Ariza Scola on the post will get more touches Brooks will be better than he was last year(more consistent) Ariza ups his scoring with more opportunities proving he can be a 2nd or third option Projected Stats Scola 18ppg 10rpg 3 assists Brooks 19ppg 3 Ariza 15ppg 5rpg 3 assists 2 steals
Frankly I will be patiently waiting for Brian Cook to light it up this season and take us to the Championship.
I watch basketball enough to know the Lakers were barely a playoff team and Kobe was in the media about being traded until Pau Gasol showed up. I also watch enough basketball to see how much the Celtics sucked in the playoffs without Garnett. You appear to be one of these "We took the Lakers to 7 Games w/o Yao and Tmac" guys. You are in for a huge awakening.
I am glad we got Ariza. Maybe I fell off the planet because I don't understand what is going on in regards to a back-up C for Yao. Yao will either play next year or he won't. The Gortat deal fell through. Is the hunt still on for a center?
I don't even want to make the playoffs this year. We can't win, so why bother? The best thing we can do is suck all year and get a top 5 pick. Then hopefully Yao will return healthy and we can add another star free agent to the mix. But make no mistake about it, we're rebuilding. And the worst thing you can do when rebuilding is consistently stay in the middle of the pack. Then you don't suck bad enough to get the good draft picks and you're not good enough to lure in the prime free agents. It's no mans land.
That would be the worst "big three" in the history of the NBA if anybody dared to call that a big three.
the question is not, "can we make the playoffs?" the question is, "do we want to make the playoffs?" with yao, tmac, and ron out of the picture, the answer is no. it's time to rebuild.
I thought I was the only one that believed this. Morey broke Yao's foot, while he was under a sedative during his foot exam. Nobody believes me though.
