can sasha vujabrick and luke wallyton defend>>>?????? defense is always there...cant say the same about shooting...
the Laker played down to the level of competition. LA played disinterested; Arriza suck in that series. he shot a good % when unguarded. w Yao most probably out this coming season, will Rox's opponents leave Arriza open for jumpers ? i think trevor will get a lot less open looks. no, they're the same. don't why Rox would keep two of the same.
maybe...i'll give you a secondary definition of overpaid though: paying them 15-20MM more than they deserve based on a few good playoff moments. are you telling me that if the lakers missed the playoffs, you would think trevor ariza was worthy of a 5 year, 33MM contract?
Without Yao and TMac carrying the scoring, whether Ariza can defend probably doesn't matter that much. You can win the majority of the games getting 80s.
He's a Battier replacement, good for a champion team, not necessary for a rebuilding team. You set your corner stones, then you can start adding pieces like this. Rox are better off in lottery for some high pick now.
Lol about to be exploded. i say we hang onto Brooks. he's now our best scorer on the team, sad i know.
He's only 24.. He's going to have a larger role in Houston and should become a top three option to begin the the season.
5 million a year is not a steal, it is a solid pay and a right pay. Ariza defended the best players in each team during the post season and he defended well. Sometimes things don't show up in "Stats" because most people can't analyze stat thoroughly. Most importantly, don't underestimate the heart of a champion and brain of M.I.T graduates.
I'm a bit more optimistic than you, but its hard to dispute what you said there. I think he can improve as a defender, I'm hoping he improves his shooting, and he gives a boost to our transition game.
NO.... To me this is a great deal because he is still not in his prime and could develop more, just like hos his three pointer and defensive skill is improving.
"way overpaid?" ... you've got to be kidding ... (shaking my head) ... for the mid-level, I think we got the best player out there, and got him for 5 years. Morey doesn't hand out longer term contracts, unless he thinks HE'S getting the better deal. ... this isn't CD.
I saw that. The article is even worse. It say's he & his agent will regret going to Houston. They are to emotional & picking the wrong team. Bunch of BS
I'm not sure if you got my point... you said sasha vujabitchbrick and luke walton were contract year one trick ponies and became their old scrub self after they scored their MLE contracts...and u saying thus Ariza could be much the same...I disagree with that... you know what??? actually all MLE signs since the concept of the MLE was introduced in the late 90's were mostly disasters...apart from the Chauncey Billups full-MLE deal...almost every other full MLE has been huge busts... 2008 full MLE deals... Beno Udrih---BUST DeSagana Diop---BUST Sasha Vujacic---BUST Mickael Pietrus---GOOD signing(I really liked this signing) James Posey---BUST Chris Duhon---Average JR Smith---Great signing Lou Williams---BUST anyways just from the 2008 full-MLE signings you can see most of them has been huge busts, but for Ariza I think its going to be much better... Ariza is young at only 24...he has improved in every single year he has been in the league...his 3 point percentages has gone up every single year...he has lessened his turnovers every season...his standout skill DEFENSE will always be there for him unlike other skills such as shooting which can be a one year outlier... true I'd MUCH rather prefer it if we tanked the whole season to gain a top 5 pick next draft, but Ariza can grow with the team unlike Posey who will only be able to help you now and when "now" has gone past he only becomes a bad contract
yeah lol I was sooo shocked man I was lyk "wtf ron artest r u kidding??!!! did u have to sign with the LAKERS for ONLY 6 FRECKIN MILLION DOLLARS ...for such a short-term deal?????!!!!" nah if Aaron Brooks became the top scorer on the team he'd shoot like 35 percent... now if we can get Ramon Sessions...and his 10apg...now that would be something... I'd actually prefer Scola to be the top scorer on our team...
duhon was pretty damn solid last year and had some big improvement over his prior year. if ariza improved by that much i would be extremely excited about this signing.
How did all this go down? Did Morey try to push to get Ron Artest and Ron Artest just didn't want to sign with us.....or did Morey chase after Ariza and just didn't have the money or was unwiling to sign Artest?
ok I admit I blinked twice when I wrote that "average" for Chris Duhon...heres why... he improved solidly from his bulls seasons... but playing under mikey dantoni which player doesn't have their stats boosted like from moving from the euroleague to the NBA??? they added new talent like Al Harrington and Larry Hughes and yet look at the Knicks now...couldn't come anywhere near the playoffs in the East..those statistical improvements in my view were empty and pointless(no pun intended lol)...who didn't improve under dantoni??? and duhon wasn't worth the full MLE when he was signed last summer...its just Isaiah Thomas had James Dolan behind his back and just went up and picked up the first FA PG he bumped into... I'd give that signing a "good" at best...and I think its fair to give it an "average"
