Boy, I would sure hope we could do this deal and flip one of them to Minny along with Landry or whatever Minny wants along with a first rounder for Rubio. I would think Minny would really be interested in a Fernandez/Landry/first rounder for a bad contract and Rubio. How much more do they expect to get for him?

First, we have no money and second, what is appealing to Rasheed to come here? We are a team in transition that isnt expected to contend.
dude, i would've expected such a trade idea from a rookie, not from you. memphis is high on Gasol & Gay. There's no way they trade BOTH of them away for, essentially, Battier + a 1st. c'mon, man. be realistic.
someone said Brad Miller? the dude is as injury prone as Yao. We dont want to have another center that play half season and have Chuck Hayes to take over the second half.
Not really. But without Artest and with Yao most likely out this year, I think it's about stockpiling young talent and setting this team up for how it'll look two years from now and not this year. So, if we can get Bosh in 2010, we have a core of Bosh/Rubio/Ariza/Landry. At that point, we either fill the pivot with a servicable warm body, or we get lucky and Yao comes back whole. There are so few dominant centers out there that, if we lose Yao for good, I don't think we're going to rebuild around the center position. Just a guess, though.
That's why I prefaced with that. Beside this is the Grizz we are talking about, you never know what they'll say no to unless you ask. The fact is that they're going to have to pay Rudy Gay big bucks once his rookie contract is up and the Grizz have made it obvious they have a payroll limit they won't go over. Sure it's one sided to us. I wouldn't hesitate to ask Chris Wallace anyways. What's the worst that can happen, he'll say no? I'm sure that's a minute (ok seconds) of Morey's life he's willing to waste. I think you meant the Clippers. I forgot about the Randolph/QRich trade impacting their salary cap. Don't think the Clippers are interested in taking back salary after right after dumping it, nor do I think Battier is in their radar. They are rebuilding around Blake Griffin and nowhere close to playoff contention, which is what Battier is suited for. Von isn't coming back, c'mon man.
Yes, please, let's give it a rest. No more injury-prone centers/big men unless we have some redundancy. Although I'm not sure Miller is that injury prone. If I recall, they weren't major injuries.
What investment? 1 year with an expiring contract? The point is that if we have a decent center like Miller, we will be a 50 win team next year. If our plan is to completely tank and get a good #1 pick, then it makes no sense to get Miller. Battier's contract lasts until 2011, Miller's expires next summer. Battier is on the wrong side of 30. It's called selling high.
