This is a fantastic move as far as I'm concerned. It's not a splashy move because it seems it's not in Morey's nature to make "splashy" moves. Artest was a great move when it was made but anyone who watched the Rockets during the playoffs could see that Artest could just as easily lose a game for us as win a game for us.

I've come to trust Morey. I don't think he'll overpay just to "do something" as some of you have suggested.

If Ariza will commit to our teams defense and if he can work within the offense then I trust we'll win. Because that's what Morey seems to be very good at. Finding the underrated talent that translates into wins (ie Brooks/Landry or Scola). I mean really, who in the national media (or even local) thought Brooks/Lowry were an upgrade over Alston. But they were.

And I fully expect the "crazy eyed killa" to clash with Jackson and bring more drama to LA than he brings winning shots. Jackson won't stroke his ego or work wit the craziness. Just wait for Artest to brush off Kobe. I can't wait.

Ughhhh who cares? We are in the rebuilding process now and Ariza is a key component for the future of our team.

Not a bad pickup. Not great, but not bad.

only if you think (rubio)6'4 with a 6'10 wingspan is smaller than (aaron) 5'11 with a 6'4 wingspan :D

I think this is the kind of offseason we need. Every year we get excited about signing players (Wells, Swift, Francis) but it all turned out to be a disappointment. This "trade" might not make espn headlines but i think it's a solid acquisition.

so pretty much a trade. I would say these two players are about the same level but Ariza is a bit smarter and his defense was the reason why the Lakers won the championship :)

This is a good signing, but the rockets are gonna be lucky to win more than 40 games next year. Now we'll see who the true Rocket fans are however long this rebuilding stage lasts. At least this team still has valuable parts up and down the roster unlike the Moochie years.

Thank you Morey! Ariza plays 100% out on the floor like Scola!! And he is only 24.

we can't sign anyone and no one that we trade for will be able to carry the teams offensive load by himself.

we need to get in the mindset that it's more important to acquire and develop young talent than have all of the pieces fit right away.

I really hope Ariza develops into a MUCH better player or else he'll be extremely over paid. It kind of reminds of the Luke Walton deal.

I think we over paid for him. He's got a nice game, but I don't think he's worth the full MLE. I can't see giving him the full MLE and not Gortat.

Ok, guys, I'm very happy about this signing. GREAT ACQUISITION BY MOREY AND THE ROCKETS.

Ariza had been the under-the-radar guy I've loved for years. Lakers got a steal of a deal for him when they traded Brian Cook and Mo Evans to Orlando for Trevor Ariza. Now I'm glad we have him.

I'm freckin pissed that Artest decided to sign with the freckin LAKERS for a freckin' 6 MILLION PER YEAR!!! 6 MILLION PER YEAR!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!! Thats like Hedo Turkoglu signing for the full MLE again...why he wants to take such a massive paycut in the range of 4-8 million per year is beyond my imagination. Must be Ron Ron being Ron Ron...can't explain it any other way...

I was extremely outraged when I first heard the news on ESPN...omg I was about to exploded. Trust me I first saw Artest signing with the Lakers as like an earthquake that just erupted outside my house...

but upon further thinking... I believe that not signing Ron is a good move. simply put...we have no Yao, no T-Mac...so wats the use of Ron??? Hes gonna put up 30 shots a game to earn his 30 ppg??? are you kidding me???

Now just trade Brooks for a legit PG like Ramon Sessions (sign & trade) and trade Battier for a young legit starter and I think we're set. For some reason I really don't want us to do any trades with Portland at the moment although I LOOOVE RUDY FERNANDEZ...

    Brooks for Rudy anyone???

How about Battier + Brooks + Future first round pick for Rubio and Corey Brewer???

    LET THE REBUILDING BEGIN!!!

I trust Morey, but I think Ariza is way overpaid

Morey has made nothing but good moves for the Rockets, but over $30 million for 8.9 pts 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists? I mean he's been in the league for 5 years! That is a long time and I don't know how much more a player can develop. I really hope Morey knows what he doing.
